im deffinetly interested just want a def answer if mods have to be done to the gaurds to make them fit on an r34.

i also want to know this.

if this is a direct fit kit, as in u fit the hindges and clamp the doors on and away they go....then fine im in.

but if custom work has to be done to the doors and all this other stuff...its another story

More info guys ...... :(:(:)

Not bolt only kit. Haven't started as yet, but have instructions now. Still shouldn't be too bad, but will let you know of the progress. It looks like we will be doing it next week some time.

For those interested, I have attached the instructions. Looks like there may be some welding and the fenders may need to be rolled by the looks of it. I will let you know how much once we do it.

Just to let u guys know, I have a very similar hinge in my car. It took alot of mods and trial and error. I also work for a modification shop and can tell u that to fit a kit like this will be in excess of $1500 for labour. And if you get someone who dont know much about them to fit it, they can severly stuff it up, in some cases irreversable. So do ur research first to make sure u get quotes on fitting before ur embarking on doing something like this.

I chose this type of kit also cause it allows to door to lift in excess of 90degs, which the bolt on kits cant even get close to (usually 50-60deg).

Looks good.. although would definitely need a pro to install it.. Is there anyone/shop in Melbourne who install these things?

I think IQ auto used to do it.

Thanks for the heads up Mr Cali.

Can you tell me what things I should look for and what problems can happen before I start.

Thanks. I will still keep everyone updated on the progress of this.

Cheers,

Sam

Here are some pics, hope it works...

click on the image as it is an animated gif....

where did you get the pic's for that animated gif?? ....nice to know someone is using a picture of my car for advertising....

i installd a similar kit myself, they are illigal unless you get MOD plateing in QLD, i can help anyone instal them if they are in the area of brisbane.

PS, i got a 20min video showing exactly what has to be done to put these doors on. and yes wider fenders would be a benifit.

before you install note that the wingdoors will feel slightly wobbly,

also with these kits they are only for show, unless you are insanely muscly you won't be able to get out of the car by lifting the door. he door will be able to open normally to about 30 degrees for you to get in and out, if you want to lift them, you need to be actually outside of the car

also since the whole door is only supported by one hinge allowing vertical movements, as you shut the door, the hook where the door is suppose to lock into will not align with the latch...hard to explain, but you'll know it after you install them~~

mine close properly, with the door sensor also still working, mine works on a gas stut, so even my gf who only weighs 55kg can lift it up without straining herself haha.

Guy's sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. The details so far .......

No way is it bolt on and mod's needed are a fair bit. Getting help from a panel beater and he recommends that a plate is welded on to support the hinge as the body behind the fender area where the hinge is to attach is too thin and not flat.

The hinges will be started on Monday and may take 2 or 3 days. I will take photo's of the entire process in the event that anyone is still interested. Sorry if I lead you astray. What they say, and what you get a 2 different things :( This job appears to be one not for the faint hearted and someone that's pretty handy.

I'm still not sure if the guards need rolling anymore with unpicking a section of the body and putting in a 3mm plate. Will know in a few days :D

Will keep you posted of the progress.

Awesome Sam. No worries about leading us astray. You weren't leading us astray at all. You tried to get us a good product at a good price.

It just turns out that it's not for the faint hearted, that's all :(

I had one of these type of kits, although mine was actually a full bolt on from Japan, cost me $1200NZD

so a bit expensive :S but yeah

my kit needed a bit of modification to the inside guard(hammer took care of it) - panelbeater should be able to do it in about 30 minutes

and the inside fender needed to be cut a bit, i used a grinder to remove the inside of it and it worked fine

the wires in the r32's are long enough to reach out, it'll take about 2-3 hours to adjust it to the right fit, but once they fit on, they do look good :pirate:

I'd definitely recommend the heavy duty gas struts, if you try lifting one with a normal strut, it's extremely hard, with the gas strut, you lift it about a cm and the door pushes itself mostly up
