Come vote for my mean R33 in battle and Bracks cost motorists

Recommended Posts

just back from vicroads website and it seems that current cost is $486.50

Made up of $140 Registration Fee - which has NOT changed for a few years!

TAC Premium [this is the killer] $346.50 which includes $31.50 GST, this is the one that keeps climbing up and up and up

The TAC premium also has high/medium/low categories, which I seem to always be in high! Which doesnt make ANY sense because with my Comprehensive car insurance [and house ins.] I am not in a high-risk area. I am not 100% on what the "high/medium/low" refers to - they dont elaborate, funny that.

hmm I think I may have found a couple of loop holes whilst browsing their site...will investigate further and if there is money to be saved I will let you guys know - unless you are happy to keep lining the pollies pockets?

/end not so pessimistic but more realistic rant.

just a thought.  can we claim rego back on tax, if its necessary for us to have cars for our jobs.  we could also charge petrol.  i am not too sure.

would it work.  any accountants out there?

No you cant claim rego.

You can only claim running costs etc that is a direct result of your work, and this doesnt include to and from the office. Rego is a cost you would have to pay if u needed ur car for work or not, so cant be claimed.

Hope that explains it.

BTW my qld rego was about $375 for 6 months, when i was living in melb, that was nearly a year!

You realise that Bracks doesn't drive - he has a Statesman & driver, all other front benchers have 'Government' cars (all expenses paid) - so what the f*ck do they care if they put rego/TAC/toll/fuel prices up.

It would be nice to live in a world where politicians had to abide and deal with the laws and taxes they made.

And if the new 'funding' goes to pulic services like Police - can we expect better protection from theft/vandalism - or more anti-import behaviour and 'traffic safety' cameras. As our brand new freeways are such dangerous places to be.

Perhaps we should all drive crappy old Camiras with no brake lights or rego and bald tyres as Government mandated safety devices.

:D

Mind you - I'm still bitter and angry about the c*nts who violated my car. I miss it. I want it back. I want them to pay. Sorry about the rant.

I mean most of the stuff they pull motorists over for these days are not bordering on "dangerous" anyway to probably most people.. A few neon lights on your car (whether u like them or hate them issue aside) really doesn't make your car a safety hazard for all road users... or a guage, slightly positioned in your field of view is that is not legal in the book. So what do people do when they get caught? Mount them down below - legal, but of course, where are you looking when you're looking at a boost guage in your console?? not at the road! Its all whacko whacko.. and i thought Victoria had a bit more sense than other states when it came to some things. Not these days.

If police were more actively patrolling areas and things rather than sitting on a quiet stretch of road in the middle of nowhere with their lights off waiting for some speeder, you're right James, maybe your car would have been less of a target.

I just cringe each time i see those signs on the Ring Road - "Road Safety Cameras"...like they are doing so much to keep us safe on the freeways which have been statistically proven to be the safest parts of our road network. Bullshit - more like "Road Revenue Cameras"

Times have changed, people want cars that are customised and have a bit of personality and difference, and yet we're stuck with ADRs and Roadworthy requirements that were largerly engineered in the 70's - an entirely different era to today.

It all frankly SUCKS .. and anybody who didn't wake up yesterday will know a change of government will not make much of a difference. If they cut down on road revenue program where do they get the cash from? No government in their right mind is going to do away with a great way to screw people out of at least $100 per incidence. And most polly's haven't like you said been a driver on the roads themselves for so many years..and everything WE pay for they get for FREE.

    • Have you confirmed the 2 pin coolant temp sensor on the motor is working properly? I've had a very similar issue when I forgot to plug mine back in many years ago.
    • Ok interesting i guess ill wait till using a manual gauge before making assumptions.
    • Not in any way a logical conclusion. Also, looking at those logs, I struggle to see how that much oil pressure can go away that fast unless you are sucking air into the pickup. Meanwhile the ECU voltage is chucking a huge wobbly which seems to be tied to the throttle position. 100% throttle results in decreasing voltage. It's a mess.
    • So didn't get around to installing a manual oil pressure gauge and then decided to take the car for a cruisey drive to a cars and coffee and brought the laptop along with to get another log using more gears to see if its an oil pressure issue under acceleration or after. this log has 3 gears of WOT where as previous had 2 and the oil pressure dropped once on the brakes, and the same again happens here which is interesting as it shows it can hold oil pressure while under acceleration but once slowing or just the lower RPM after a pull pressure drops. I will be chucking a manual oil pressure gauge on to confirm but so far this makes me feel it is not an electrical issue. Something else i realised is the pressure sensor also is giving temperature information and the temp stays steady the whole time which makes me feel like the sensor itself is showing a true pressure reading.
