Your a good man beer baron, i apologise for acting like a wanker. I thought u were pretty decent member untill i read your inital post obviously i took it the wrong way indeed.

I rate the gtr very highly and in anything but the dry i think the 4wd will dominate Rwd every time. You would be correct when i say i have never owned or even been for a ride in one (unless a 260RS counts) However i think in the dry, a RWD RB26/30 500hp 1300 kg GTST with could be right along side if not faster than 500hp gtr (2.6-3.1 whatever).

Obviously im going to need some 9 inch wide rims and some rubber as good as yours advans i was thinking re555s would be ok. I will be staying 18inch, how much worse than 17inch do u think that will be?

I must say though at the moment with 213rwks from the RB20, the 18x7.5s with S-03 rubber is holding the power very well and handling very well. Also like i said i will go to the weigh bridge soon and get back to this thread, im still interested in u telling me what u think it would weigh now.

yeah no worries. let's forget it all

No doubt a well sorted 500hp/1300kg GTST with good tyres and suspension is going to slam a 500hp/1500kg GTR most of the time. I think RE55s would be an even better choice than the advans I'm running. Simply because the advans dont seem to last as well as the bridestons (heat cycle wise, not tread wear wise). The RE55s are a little cheaper too. I only went the A048s as they were what I could get at the time.

I still think ideally you want some 17X9 at least at the rear, and possibly all 'round. running a 235 front or 245 if you can and a 255 rear. Maybe when there is some spare dough look at keeping your LMGT4s for street and a second set of wheels for your track/fun tyres.

It's hard to say what the weight will be now. I've had my GTST on the weigh bridge but I can't for the life of me remember what it weighed. It's a 1990 type M with ABS and sunroof and 17X9 wheels. You definately should have lost some weight with the trim and seats removed, and if in fact the GTR seats are lighter than GTST then a few more kg there too. I think the wheel swap would at best be equal to the stock package. Even though your are now lightweight style forged wheel vs the original cast alloy wheels you have gone up 2 inches in diameter and 1 in width and in my experience the bigger diameter and width tyres weigh more than the smaller ones. sidewall height I dont think matters so much for weight. I could be wrong though. I think a massive gain to be had is to switch the drivers seat at least to a fixed bucket style seat. You could save 10 or 15kgs there easily I reckon. and when you do go to the track take out the passenger seat all together. if you can't get to the weight you want fibreglass bumpers are quite cheap and a lot lighter than the stock plastic ones.

hmm.. funny this..? BNR32 weigh 1460 and i bet tomorrows breakfast a mildly 500hp tuned R32 GTR with full trim will slaughter any 500hp GTST with or without trim removable. R33 R32 and R34.

also the R32 GTR rims are a very nice brilliantly made rim. will be far lighter and stronger than most aftermarket rims. designed for a Group A racing beast. dont doubt a GTR. and the way u sAfrican American at 2.6L... 600cc more than a R32 GTST.? nearly double the power and torque.

have u even driven a GTR? keep in mind the R32 GTST RB20 is a shitblock in design and power compared to the GTR. the head aswell is inferior,. GTR head is another piece of work. and i fail to see how 500hp and 1300kg on 225 will have any sort of traction. :P my GTR with the old yokohamas 245 spun up to 3rd in rwd and spins 1st and mine is mildy tuned. im now running 225 goodyear and they are no good. is it cause of the extra 600cc?

please the GTRs AETS has prob more development funds pumped through it than the whole GTST car.

cant wait to see u head around QR pulling off ur 60secs and have a BNR32 pull off 55secs. :)

GTST are far inferior than a GTR will be around a track. nissan designed it that way.

Ok, you have said your piece...you finished?

I weighed the B-C pillar trim this morning and each one weighed 1.2kgs. They are only out because the vinyl is stuffed. So i wouldnt rip them off as they make the interior look terrible. When putting my car back together after spraying it....Nissan have done a pretty good job on keeping the weight of stuff down.= iwth interior pieces. The reclining seats are the only obviously heavy things.

I will weight the GTSt seat on the weekend when im putting the MOMO back in. Dont have GTR seats.

...and i love how the GTR brigade need to hassle any GTSt owner when they are looking at improving performance. RWD cars can be pretty quick and fun...so wheres the farking harm

lol, there there roy. :P ya know I love the GTST.

many would argue a well sorted GTST is faster AND more fun than the average GTR. no neccisarily saying I would... but then again I dont own a well sorted GTST...

I will try and weigh a GTR seat this weekend. I have both GTR and GTST seats kicking around.

Man, a std turbo RB20 GTSt with speed limiter and road rubber does a 1:56 at EC. How many GTR guys out there have gone quicker in a basically stock street tyred GTR????? There aint that much difference...so im all for remving the obvious stuff from a GTSt to try and help it on its way to keeping up with the more expensive cars.

Im removing my amps and cabling next and riunning simple 6.5" speakers, That will remove abotu 10kgs from the car

Obviously u idiots cant read. I said 9 inch wide rims for rb26/30 500hp.

Your gtr must be good is that why ur selling it.?? Also 4WD is not everything, especially in the dry. Hence why i didnt buy a gts4 either.

The track days im aiming to run the car at in the future involve going for the fastest lap, that is like one warmup lap, one hot lap, one cool down lap. If the track is wet the guys dont run so i wont have to compete for times in the wet.

With 500hp, more torque (2.6 vs 3.0) more grip (having 9inch wide rims and less weight) there is no where on the track the gtr should have any advantage except maybe some point of exiting the corner.

I would always trade this for a car that will turn into corners BETTER than a gtr due to the fact there is not 150 extra kgs sitting over the front wheels.

Good luck with the sale u will need it....

What were your tyres nankangs? Did u have rock hard suspension as well?

actually they were hankook k104 with yes, rock hard tein suspension. but before u have a go at them, i managed to get consitent 1.8sec 60 footers at the drags with them :)

Thanks Drift limo, i know what ur talking about. I helped my mate put one in his datto 1600 sr20 conversion and it did weigh a bit.

Ill leave that for next time i have the dash apart i think, unless i get really bored :D

Have a read on this thread, r32 gts, fully stripped = 1100kg, you should be able to get your car pretty close to that weight without to much effort.

http://www.skylinesdownunder.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=52581

There's heaps of estimation in this thread which really doesn't help anyone at all. I seriously doubt eliminating HICAS is 20kg's worth.

What is good though, is that you have a target weight figure. That helps a hell of a lot. Get it weighed, then start from there... it'll make it a lot easier.

The R32 GT-R in dead stock form from the factory showroom is 1480kg's. That's a heavy mofo. The Group-A racing cars were 1200-1300kg's. The N1 version (only a few made) were the same as stock but without ABS, boot lining, stereo, rear wiper/motor + aircon to save weight (surely not that much weight savings there).

I haven't bothered with saving weight as it's been so easy to add power but I have taken out some carpet/tar, rear wiper/motor, rear seats, belts, lighter seats but mostly I've added a whole lot of chassis stuff... full cage, bracing up top and under the car too.

After a weighbridge at Mascot (you pay $22 to get your car weighed) I got a figure of 1480kgs!

So spot on I've managed to keep the same weight as stock but have a gazillion mods on the car. I'm baffled as to how they get their cars down to 1200kg's though. I know I can save a fair bit if I took out:

Aircon (anyone weighed this yet?).

ABS (works pretty crappy I find on an R32 in any case).

completely remove hicas (rear wheel steering rack).

lightweight battery

stereo

But that's a fair bit of commitment right there. Something I am thinking about in any case. Shame that when I put 6-pot AP's on the car my weight will go up again... 355mm pizza sized rotors have got to be heavy!!!

"...r32 gtst front seats with rails weigh approx 16.8 kgs each..."

Weighed my R32 GT-R drivers seat today...13.5Kg

There's heaps of estimation in this thread which really doesn't help anyone at all. I seriously doubt eliminating HICAS is 20kg's worth.

Had my HICAS removed completely, I asked a very knowledgable tuner how much he saved. All up 26Kg. Had X-Speed do mine.

"...Shame that when I put 6-pot AP's on the car my weight will go up again... 355mm pizza sized rotors have got to be heavy!!!"

mmm LMGT4's, 355mm rotors and AP calipers....I hate you man
