Went to sign the papers today, but he changed the deal.

We like the car and went to sign papers today but now they will only give me 7500 for my skyline. I still think the Surs is a good deal, but wont be able to collect it until Thursday (few little waranty jobs). If anyone wants a bargain the car is still available until Thursday for $7500 (but I'd be happy if you offer me more)

The time has come to sell Di's Skyline and purchase a 4x4 (Toyota Surf)

I have been offered $7500 for her car by the dealer on an $11,000 Surf (3L turbo Diesel). I'll take his price but if anyone here wants the car (a bargain at that price) I'd rather sell it to you than have the dealer sell it for $10,000 later.

Its an auto 4 door R33 and puts out 180RWKW on 8-9 psi boost.

The car has a few goodies (Apexi RPM and SAFC, pod, front mount, exhaust)

Great car for a family or someone who dosnt want the police atention but still wants the performance.

PS this is Di's car, not mine in the sig (same type but no boddy kit)

Sold the car tonight, glad to see it go to a good home.

A bargain to get a 180rwkw car with lots of extra fruit for $7500.

9k for a 4door in a dealer isn't bad we had a white 33 4 door in good condition come through and he only got 7k for it, I tried to see if any of the wholesale guys would buy mine but they only offered 10k so that could be a last resort when she comes up for sale

all the best with the sale

can I take the SAFC off you for cheap? I mean if its got all that stuff on it right the dealer wont give a shit either way If your take it back to him, I dont think they bothered to look if you had any extra goodies on the car. PM me if your willing to disconnet the piggy back.

I wouldnt be suprised...oldest trick in the book. I used to see this all the time when i worked for a car yard.

Did they then pick on items that they deemed needed fixing?

Yes - wanted me to remount the rear wing, and couldnt offer me any more because it could cost them big $ if anything went wrong on a skyline. LOL one of the most over engineered cars on the street, almost bullet proof.

Did you sign ?

the 4wd you are talking about buying is a great car but has all the same problems as our skylines.

It's an import and therefor is just as expensive for parts and to service. It was the same car that I always wanted until I spoke to a few owners of these cars. I would suggest a toyota hilux instead {same manufactuer} easier to find parts and service

By the way, are you going bush or towing anything?

Keep the line . The other half will kick herself for selling it afterwards. My missus did and still does.

Guy i worked with bought one (imported surf) turbo diesel.

Is it the ones with the rear door handle in a weird sort of spot?

He loved it, and said it was very good on the fuel too...

edit/ it doesnt look like the one im thinking of....

are you sure she will like it??

The Surf and the Hilux are almost identical, but the Surf came with the 3L Turbo Diesel motor (and some other less reliable motors) so longevity shouldnt be a problem. (Diesels = 500,000km with a bit of care)

I need a 4x4 for towing and access to a property I recently brought at Inglewood. Its going to be useful when I build a house on the land, and the skylines hasn't got the ground clearance or 4 wheel drive to cope with slippery grass and mud (and I'm not giving her a GTR even if it had a lift kit)

Love the Monster Truck, I guess you could say "Surfs Up"

Not sure I would say the rear handel is in a strange place, you have to swing the rear tyre around then lower the window and the handel is inside the rear cabin.

It has a sterio, air, and all the usual luxuries, even a rear wing to help it go faster :woot:

sort of can understand where you are coming from.

My boss has a new ford gtp and cant get to his house down the driveway. he bought a property of lower hermitage rd. He bought a holden ute at first{paddock basher} and just bought the new top of the range mitsu triton thing . Now he owns a new jeep{ wifes and its black} , gtp falcon {his and its black}, the ute{white} and the new triton {u guesed black}. what it would be to have a bottom less wallet.

By the way he hates the fact that his $80thou + gtp gets eaten by my $35thou GTR

lol

    • I think you're really missing the point. The spec is just the minimum spec that the fuel has to meet. The additive packages can, and do, go above that minimum if the fuel brand feels they need/want to. And so you get BP Ultimate or Shell Ultra (or whatever they call it) making promises to clean your engine better than the standard stuff....simply because they do actually put better additive packages in there. They do not waste special sauce on the plebian fuel if they can avoid it. I didn't say "energy density". I just said "density". That's right, the specific gravity (if you want to use a really shit old imperial description for mass per unit volume). The density being higher indicates a number of things, from reduces oxygen content, to increased numbers of double bonds or cyclic components. That then just happens to flow on to the calorific value on a volume basis being correspondingly higher. The calorific value on a mass basis barely changes, because almost all hydrocarbon materials have a very similar CV per kg. But whatever - the end result is that you do get a bit more energy per litre, which helps to offset some of the sting of the massive price bump over 91. I can go you one better than "I used to work at a fuel station". I had uni lecturers who worked at the Pt Stanvac refinery (at the time they were lecturing, as industry specialist lecturers) who were quite candid about the business. And granted, that was 30+ years ago, and you might note that I have stated above that I think the industry has since collected together near the bottom (quite like ISPs, when you think about it). Oh, did I mention that I am quite literally a combustion engineer? I'm designing (well, actually, trying to avoid designing and trying to make the junior engineer do it) a heavy fuel oil firing system for a cement plant in fricking Iraq, this week. Last week it was natural gas fired this-that. The week before it was LPG fired anode furnaces for a copper smelter (well, the burners for them, not the actual furnaces, which are just big dumb steel). I'm kinda all over fuels.
    • Well my freshly rebuilt RB25DET Neo went bang 1000kms in, completely fried big end bearing in cylinder 1 so bad my engine seized. No knocking or oil pressure issue prior to this happening, all happened within less than a second. Had Nitto oil pump, 8L baffled sump, head drain, oil restrictors, the lot put in to prevent me spinning a bearing like i did to need the rebuild. Mechanic that looked after the works has no idea what caused it. Reckoned it may have been bearing clearance wrong in cylinder 1 we have no idea. Machinist who did the work reckoned it was something on the mechanic. Anyway thats between them, i had no part in it, just paid the money Curiosity question, does the oil system on RB’s go sump > oil pump > filter > around engine? If so, if you had a leak on an oil filter relocation plate, say sump > oil pump > filter > LEAK > around engine would this cause a low oil pressure reading if the sensors was before the filter?   TIA
