factory power figure is 184 (187 for series 2) and thats what they go off. End of story, ALL R33 GTS-T's are OVER the power to weight limit in Victoria, and there is NO LOOPHOLE.

If you want to drive an R33 GTS-T on your p plates, then be prepared to pay any fines that come your way. end of story.

bastard. lol. bet me to it.

but yeah, im another one of the ones on here that drives an R33 gts-t on P's. i dont get harrased about the car all that often. and am yet to be fined for it but meh. even if i am fined for it being illegal for me to drive i wont care, i made the choice to get it as my first car and was aware of the consequences... so thats that.

if you have gotten your p's before the new restrictions come in, these new laws don't affect you.

i e-mailed vic roads.

:]

r33 is illegal with the current laws, regardless if the new tougher law comes out, the r33 is still illegal. Seeing as it will be the same law being broken (highpowered today and new highpowered in 6months) it will probably follow the new penalties.

Essentially they just increased the penalty of the current law but with more restrictions. You are still breaking the law regardless of when you obtained your P-Plate.

In your email, vicroads may have been referring to a situation like the r32.

Legal today for P-Platers, but new laws it wont be, however current P-Platers will still be legally able to drive.

meh, who cares man, everything is illegal nowadays, if you get caught just take it and pay the fines. i mean youve gota bigger chance of getting caught if you had a huge exhaust that was loud as or you drove like a dick. like i said before i to drive a 33 gtst 'high powered' but every mod im planning to do il do sensible for example turbo back exasust 3 inch tip, quieter. painting my cooler black, every lil bit you do helps.

If you drive under the speed limit, not rip other cars of the lights, not go sideways on main roads etc etc youl have a much LESS chance of getting pulled over

Yes not being an idiot is less likely to get you pulled over, but i thought the whole idea of the club and forums was not to encourage people breaking the law, but to support the love of a common car platform.

i'm not saying i agree with the old or new laws (though it is good to know the new restrictions won't affect me) but encouraging or at least not detering people from breaking the law is definately not the way to go. it gives ALL skyline and other hi-po car drivers a bad name, irrespective of what they are doing at the time.

and the last thing skyline drivers need is even more of a bad rap than what some get already.

seeing as the decision is made already, i do hope you behave the way you say you will. but the temptation will always be there, and if you get caught and fined for hi-po vehicle or doing something stupid, i for one will not be rallying to support you.

do the wrong thing and pay for it, but don't encourage others to break the law.

this is not NSW, P plate hi-po laws have been around for ages, no one getting their p's now would be anywhere close to having their license before those laws came in. Wrong information.

And to the guy spouting crap about the Skylines in japan having no cat converters, or petrol being a factor, etc... 1) you're mate is full of complete crap, 2) can i vote that the stupidest post of 2007? because seriously, we're only 2 days in but i can't see anything topping that brainless bunch of words on the prev page.

Wrong again

As per Rekin's post.

Thread is closed.

People cant help themselves and are continually posting incorrect information which is not helping the Community here at all.

All that matters is the below.

The R33 GTS-t, is illegal to drive on P's now, and it will be illegal to drive on P's when the new laws come into place.

Regardless of the fact that you are driving one now, you are driving one illegally. Therefore once the tougher laws again come into play, you dont have a leg to stand on as you were breaking the law in the past, and will be breaking the new, tougher, laws.

Regardless of what VicRoads says, or anyone else... because i bet that when you email them, your not telling them that full stroy, in that you're already driving an illegal car.

If you had been clear with them, and said "Im driving an illegal car now, will i still be illegal under the new laws?", and the answer to that question

is

YES

End of story.

    • I like it when the counter chick leads you out the back into the racks and says "have a grub around in here and see if you can find what you need. I'll be back in a few minutes. Just left me in front of a massive motorised shelving system and 2-3 million fasteners, so I could find a peculiar SS shoulder bolt with cap head. Gotta love country towns.
    • I used this https://osgiken.com.au/product/os-giken-os-250r-lsd-gear-oil-80w250-1-litre/   shut my nismo 1.5 pro up by heaps…. Not silent though. Gives the car character and personality. It ain’t a carolla. If you want silent, put a quaife in it.
    • It's about the same time for me from Bunnings, or the Fasteners. My big push away from takeaway food, and gluten in general keeps me away from the Bunnings Snags too! Weather up here, I've been out for two walks today in the beautiful sunshine. Had a few little drizzles, and some wind, that honestly, a tin of beans and I could compete on how harsh she blows Thankfully, being this bit inland, we're not getting anything much really. Will probably pick up a bit more when/if Cyclone Alfie decides to come ashore. A few areas in the GC though, and south into NSW are really getting smashed though! Right now, I'm just annoyed Alfie hasn't hit, as I'm not allowed to crack into the BBQ foods like the bacon and eggs until the Cyclone hits "In case we lose power"...
    • I love fastener joints, the price difference between them and joints like Bunnings or Super Cheap is amazing, and they either have exactly what you want, or they can get it to quick They have even given me some for free when I only needed a couple of specific size In saying this, I have paid premium for fasteners from Bunnings if they have the sizes I need, but only for convenience really, as my local is only 10 minutes away, the Sushi joint near them is also a consideration  How's the weather Matt? Stay safe mate
    • Wideband is worth setting up if only for tuning purposes. I would not mess with the ignition system unless there's a misfire. HKS crank trigger is popular out here for the relatively easily sourced Denso crank sensor, not a bad idea to install as well regardless of power level on a standalone. Boost leak test is worth thinking about. Oil pressure sensor tied to a fuel cut isn't a bad idea either. Getting the tune figured out is a good idea. Without putting eyes on it and getting under it there's no way for us to tell you exactly what it needs but most likely you're down to the last 10% that will make a big, big difference in how happy you are with the car.
