Lewis is really the first example of a racing driver being groomed from the beginning to be the best. We have seen it in other sports tennis, soccer etc. but never really in motorsport. Not to this extent. So it shouldn't surprise us that he is going so well. It is surprising just HOW well he is doing.

It seems that Kimi is finally used to his car and these tyres and Alonso is the same so I am expecting to see these two begin to take the upper hand over their team-mates. The fact that Alonso is a decent way behind and Kimi is even further behind (but in a faster car) means that the championship is wide open and should be very exciting!!

ahh cmon everyone in f1

1/ has been racing karts since they were 6

2/ has parents with money

You simply cannot make it to the top of motorsport without that sort of experience and some decent financial backing. I guarantee the drivers with the most potential are *not* racing in F1.

Hamilton has driven well, shown guts etc. But he is bloody lucky to be racing for mclaren this year, otherwise he would look no different to every other talented f1 rookie.

As usual winning F1 is about being in the right team at the right time.

well said, all 22 drivers in the same car would be covered by about a second a lap I reckon. You don't get to F1 without being staggeringly good in a racing car. Even guys like Albers, Ralf Schumacher etc. They have still have driving skill on another level to most people.

You think that if they all had the same car set up to their liking there would still be as much as a second a lap between their lap times? I would suggets it would be much closer. Perhaps after 20 laps you would be able to see who is kinder to their equipment/tyres. But over a lap i think they would be closer

we can see his character when being interviewed. Hes polite, well spoken, humble and tearing open the establishments and their preconceived notions and ideals.

I like him.

Alonso is humble this year, admitting straight out that 2nd was the maximum he could hope for at Silverstone, and that the Ferrari was just too quick.

There is more than just race skills in F1......Hamilton Ballsy call to Ron at the age of 12 sparked this whole thing. I reckon he deserves to be there and I love the see the old farts like Coulthard and co. look absolutely silly next to this kid. It has a lot to do with Mclaren but iv seen good drivers in good cars make a meal out of it so you still have to take your hat of to the kid...he has re-written the rookie hall of fame thats for sure......and I love the peeps here who think the could drive one of these cars and be competive ha ha it makes me laugh

To be honest I agree with you 100% but I widened the margin to a second as I couldn't be bothered starting a shitfight when people arced up that "such and such" was awesome etc.

M. Schumacher plonking the 1991 Jordan on 7th spot at Spa when he did, in his first race, would be the equivalent of Hamilton doing the same in a Prost, then when Schumacher got contracted to Benetton, that would be the equivalent of him moving up to say.... A Sauber, a bit better, but not much....

At least Alonso did a year (was it 2001?) driving for Minardi...

I reckon Hamilton is cocky, "I can't be perfect all the time", so is he implying that from time to time? He is?? Not even Schumacher said that he was perfect.... Hamilton doesn't even have the chin/jaw.... Or when he "tricked" Massa in Malaysia... He didn't trick shit... He left the door open and rampaging Felipe outbraked himself....

He stuck to the inside line, baited Massa by suddenly moving to the outside line and Massa obliged hook line and sinker and overcommitted himself to the corner subsequently overshoting the corner.

I thought it was brilliant psychologically from a guy in his 3rd race ever.

i still dont understand why people stick the boot into him...

Me neither...Hamilton is just want F1 needed...breath of fresh air and has the guts to stick it to the primadonnas...NO other rookie driver in the history of the sport has had a year like his (and I know the car is awesome), but he has had the skill and level head to make maximum value of it (unlike his 2 times world champion team mate)

On another note it looks like Webber has scored another unreliable dog of a car for 2007 season...how do you keep do this Mark....ill be glad to see him in champ cars by 2010

"didnt have to" but DID. hamilton saw it coming. Massa saw the red mist and if he had lost it wouldve taken both of them out.

i suppose you will also be the type of person to say that going around the OUTSIDE of one ferrari and then the INSIDE of the other on the first lap on cold tyres and race fuel was pretty ordinary too then, wouldnt you?

i reckon your impossible to please and i dont understand why you watch the sport at all...

...and by brilliant i was referring to the way he comprehensively rattled Massas cage during the after race debriefings. Poor little Felipe had to eat a whopping slice of humble pie and im sure he gave Hamilton a little more respect after that little exchange..

It isn't like it is a "I hate when Schumacher/Ferrari" loose syndrome... I used to LOVE watching when Schumacher used to have his ding-dong battles with DC and Mika, and if they won, so be it... Both had to work their arses off to get good cars and neither had it on a plate, not just that, they drove with balls and did the best with what they had... I'll even admit that the Hakkinen pass on Michael at Spa in 2000 might well be the finest pass this decade...

Don't you think if he had cold tyres and race fuel.... Is opponents may also be in the same boat... Look at Jenson Button in his début season... IIRC, Murray in Melbourne 2000 "Jenson is cutting though the pack like a hot knife through butter", look at drivers like DC, Rosberg and Webber... More often than not those drivers go aggressive in the first couple of laps and make good gains...

Mikas pass on Michael was ultimate balls. Ill never forget that. Gotta remember how the lap before though, Schumi was quite content top put him on the grass at 300kph...

I was at the chicane and saw Alonso pull of an even ballsier move at 130 R last year. that move was insane.

I simply enjoyed the fact that hamilton had a similar pair to stick it right up the inside of both of the ferraris in only his third race..

cmon, admit it..we have a special talent in hamilton on the grid..

NOT that im NOT saying that about the rest of the field but to come in just after Schumi retired and do what hes doing..

jeez..he walked up to the big Ron, at aged 8..not 12, and told him what the score was! he had a pair when he was still a little tacker..

gotta love that. :dry:

      Update time!  The JZX110 had some maintenance needing to be done, so a lot of the seals with replaced to fix some oil leaks. Also used this opportunity to whack on a front mount that I'd bought some time ago.  I also finally got the rear lip painted and fitted.  I then got the exhaust done. It's just a catback for now. Custom made 3" stainless with a turn down. I could have a tip coming out, but it will require cutting the rear lip and possibly the bumper itself. So far I do like and it's made the car a little more zippy.  Close out with some nice pictures of the cars and a sneak peek of what's next.

      Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365.
