I heard a rumour that Kimi was talking to Jean Todt and this was the conversation:

"so michael is coming back to do some work on a non-TC 07 car for development purposes, I just wanted you to hear it from me in case ther is any problems"

kimi replied:

"what the f**k does that have to do with me? I'm running late for my coke dealer. catch you later tubby."

Look at from the red teams point of view... with kimi on an extended break who are you going to get to test the 08 charger, minus traction contol?

Massa?? Don’t make me LOL… it just shows you how low his own team even rank his ability and his chances for next years WDC. They've come up with the best solution possible. Get a guy in there that knows what he's talking about and can actually put in a session without putting the '08 prototype into the wall at the curve grande the first time round Monza

So you are advocating treating the drivers like dogs as a way to motivate them, engender some confidence in them & generally help them put in their best performances?

Ferrari are past masters at treating their drivers badly.

three things:

A) i dont think they gives a dead rats ass about what Massa wants... he's there as their little bunny and will do what his told because he's a good little puppet

B) as baron so eloquantly put it, i too agree in that i dont think Kimi cares... at all

C) Ferrari always comes first... the teams success is, and always will, be viewed as far more important a goal than the good and proper treatment of its employees, no matter who they are

My point was that the team will be more successful if its drivers are confident and believe that they have the confidence of the team. The exercise of having Schumacher around may make headlines & some people feel good about themselves, but I cannot see how it helps either of their two current drivers develop such beliefs. Clearly it doesn't help Kimi because he basically ignores Schumacher. Massa drives well when he is out in front but tends to make a dogs breakfast of things when he qualifies beyond the first two of rows. So don't you think a bit of self belief would help him aswell?

im not saying its right, im just saying how it is

LOL they did still 'win' both championships this year... no office practice is perfect!! but with the FIA handing them championships, i dont think they need to refine their current managerial policies to the extent of a backmarker team like... oh i dont know... Mclaren

Actually they got handed both championships by the FIA. But you are right in part because they did beat the powerhouse that is Spyker, not to mention Toro Rosso.

Your also right about their management techniques, Niccolo Machiavelli has nothing on the mob from Modena. That they can sleep at night is probably only a by product of having no scruples.

ctjet...i appreciate you hvae no time for Massa.

I am neither a fan or detractor, but i probably show him more respect then many other F1 drivers.

Here is why...

JV, whilst not at his best at Sauber/BMW was still a good driver once he got the car to his liking. Massa made him look over the hill. It wasnt until Massa moved to Ferrari that we could probably look back and appreciate JV was not doing as bad a job as ppl had thought, as Massa proved he was worthy of the chance to drive the Ferrari.

So on to seat time at Ferrari, he outqualified MS on occassion, finished ahead of him in a few GPs, including a charge from the back of the grid was it Malaysia? He won his first GP, cant remember where then his home GP in Brazil. He was more convincing in his first season with the team then any of MS's previous team mates considering the circumstances. and finished 3rd in the WDC.

So on rolls this year. How many GPs did he win? 3? Should have been 4 including Brazil. He made a silly mistake exiting pit lane in Canada and suffered a few reliability problems, but ultimately he couldnt recover from his Hungary result, electronic glitch at Britich GP where he started from the back, combined with dramas in Melbourne.

So i think you are being way too hard on the guy. Sure you are allowed to hate whoever you like, but you should not let that blind you from realising that he is a long way from being a hack. He had 10 podium finishes this year. Thats pretty good considering the speed of the Mclarens, who his team mate is, and the realiability problems of the year.

Anway...like i said, im not a fan so not really trying to change your mind :laughing-smiley-014:

Look is not like i dont rate him at all... id stick him in the fields current top ten, what gets my goat about the little prick is his current undeserved seat. Theres so may other guys that deserve that seat, and in my opinion the only reason he's in the car is because very few other top class drivers would agree to sell their soul and agree to play second fiddle to his teammate.

Anyone with that little self respect and willingness to be manipulated like a puppet for the greater good of someone else pisses me off no end. Nobody doubts he has the ability to throw in a good performace once in a while... honestly, who isnt? Micheal ALYWAYS put in good performances, and since france so has kimi. Even if they were buried in the field they made the top 5 and it never seemed a stretch for them. Massa seems to struggle to take even slowest cars in the traditional overtaking spots... he's depressing to watch is all

Who annoys the hell out of me is Fisi and and Ralf....Ralf is gone. But Fisi is content to just be driving F1. I dont think he cares about beating anyone

The same reason you dislike Massa seems to be the reason i like him, just that little bit. He is a worker, he works hard, busts his ass to get the best result he can, but given the need isnt so selfish to hurt the chance of a team mate, just so he can notch up another GP victory....and he is animated and generally happy around the paddock. LOL, why woudlnt he be...he is a Ferrari F1 driver. He hasnt seem to have forgotten that...others in the paddock seem to forget just how many people woudl kill to be in their position, and just how mnya other people could do the same/better job.

Anyway, i look forward to seeing him go head to head with Kimi next year. His ego isnt so big that he will forever winge about his performance liek so many other guys out there.

lol, nice comments there, im sure kimi would agree that the FIA handed him the championship, that it was just so easy and he didn't have to fight for it...

i know you don't like ferrari, but come on lewis handed kimi the championship no one self, he f**ked up...

why does everyone dislike Massa?

ctjet, i think some of ur comments are way out of line!

I only saw ONCE this season massa play second fiddle as you call it, and he should have what was the point of him winning the last gp? yeah its his home track and would have been nice but any respectable team-mate would have done the same thing.

Like i've mention before give Massa sometime he played 2nd best in Ferrari for along time, i can see great things coming from him.

but i dont think he isn't the best of drivers in the wet!

still go massa!

Hmmmmmm

sell my soul for my monthly salary of #$%# all, work for a scotish boss and drive a HP puter every day

Scruples in F1??? you must be thinking of another sport...you continuely bag Ferrari's ethics but surely you are not so arrogant to think that the other teams would not also operate in 'grey' areas to win. McLaren/Williams/BMW and co. are just as dirty as Ferari on any given day that none of the punters would even know about. Dirty or not, thank god Ferrari are making F1 at least slightly interesting....imagine if they were gone....2 silver cars out in front all on their own...yawn....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Well "other teams" didn't instigate protests because they were supposedly held up by another car 100 metres plus down the track. Or get their drivers to park at the apex of corners to prevent others from qualifying. Other teams didn't lobby the FIA to change their mind to classify suspension systems as aero components - simply because they themselves couldn't get them to work. Nor use their own dodgy designs to try & impugn other teams.

It is not arrogance to take the view that you follow the rules & do you best out on the track. For me winning in the stewards office or winning by forcing other teams to chase around after nonsense you yourself have created is no way to go racing. Tom Walkinshaw was a past master at it. Which is why I was glad when he got the arse from Benetton & Ligier & then I wasn't so sorry to see Arrows disappear. Some people admire this sort of carry on - even think of it as clever. It just so happens that I don't.

At the end of the day and despite the stupid amounts of money involved it is supposed to be sport, not world war 3.

Yes maybe McLaren would dominate. Just like Renault before them & Ferrari before them & McLaren before them & Williams & Benetton & McLaren & Williams & Lotus & so on & on. It is more usual for one team to dominate than there to be much in the way of competition. It is the nature of categories that don't fall under the "control" class.

This season has been the worst in F1 since 1994. But atleast no one died. Although not too many years ago Kubicas effort in Canada would have been fatal. Hopefully after the sham FIA hearing next Thursday everyone can put a line under it & move on to 2008.

Well without Ferrari you'd have nothing to whinge about and F1 would be duller than it is now...........

Also reality check..... F1 in the modern era is ALL about MONEY and EGO so get used to it ....your 1970's view on the sport is in la la land

.....and speaking of dirty teams I hope djr81 doesnt refer to DJR racing....Ive got some ripper stories for you from that team in touring cars over the last 25 years

Perhaps, but it doesn't justify things like renegging on agreements to not run cigarette sponsorship.

F1 has always been about money & ego. Although to be fair for some teams it is just about ego. In fact I would go as far as saying just about all forms of motorsport are about money & ego. I mean lets face it how many sponsors don't like seeing their company name on the car - you can't tell me that the overwhelming majority of deals (that is number, not dollar value) really represent good value for money? For that matter if you look at the top drivers & even team managers/engineers over the years a shortage of self belief & indeed ego is not usually a problem for any of them. It is more so a prerequisite to get to where their going.

If you have some amusing tales about DJR I would be interested to hear of them, maybe a PM?
