Mclaren 1-2 at Monza!

its nice to see they just hit back when others dish it out..and how.

noone can discount ferrari and even BMW look more threatening this race than they have done in a while..

Great to see Button make into Q3..thats some performance. Also good to see Vettel show Liuzzi a clean set of heels.

On a final note i think we can kiss Fissi good bye..he was TROUNCED by Heikki in Quali and theres no doubt his days at Renault are numbered. I can guarantee Pique Jr. will be in that car next year to take it to his old F2 foe, LH.

dead on bud. :)

i saw Bernie at suzuka, apparently the first time hes been there for 10 years in 2006, on the eve of suzuka being dropped from the calender and it dawned on me that it wasnt the last time the cars were going to be there.

F1 without suzuka isnt a complete WDC. period.

its funny how germany is also doing the same thing. Its a smart move from the countries involved and ofcourse shrewd from the bernster for finding the happy medium.

shame we wont see the japanese track until 09....

good to see webber in p11, that is the spot to be in if you know you are no better than 8th. and it's definitely a much better spot that 9th or 10th as he can run whatever fuel he wants.

Channel 10 were always going to fark over coverage because the Rugby, problem is their rugby commentary is on the smelly side as well :)

Good to see how long the promise of 'live coverage' when the F1 went to CH10 lasted :)

good work by Alonso, i turn the race off at like lap 20ish.

so disappointed with Ferrari :spank: Massa looked like he had the speed to battle with Hamilton. Whats happen to Ferrari reliability this year? its just gone out the window, i really hope they fix this issue for next year.

Also on the side note of f1 politics, it will be interesting to see what happen, i heard that the Italian police served Mclaren with some sort of summing before the quail. started on saturday. So looks like they will not only be going to the FIA but the Italian courts too :( hmmm

That race was okay, not fantastic thats for sure.

Very happy to see button up in the points and i loved LH's move up the outside of KR from way out. You guys can knock him all you want, for a guy at 22 to come in and blitz the field like this is super extraordinary. Im sure MS would be thoroughly impressed. And hes still 3 points ahead.

Alonso though had him in spades, even if LH was fuelled longer there wouldve been no way to get past FA. FA's pace was awesome throughout the race.

I thought it was really funny the tifosi going bunta over KR getting past LH with 12 to go without realising LH was on the option and KR was already on the worn out prime. There was NO way KR wouldve been able to hold him back.

i cant wait for spa! That'll be the make or break race i reckon..look forward to it every year.

i couldnt have put it better myself..

what McLaren are going through makes me sick.

McLaren - 1st and 2nd

Even the most hardened of atheists would have to admit that after the Monza GP result, there IS a god.

McLaren have had everything slung at them over the last six weeks, culminating in some of the most vindictive behaviour ever seen in F1 toward one particular team and in particular team boss Ron Dennis.

Starting as far back as the ridiculous decision by the stewards in Hungary to punish Alonso and McLaren for what was strictly an intra-team squabble between their two drivers, things have got out of hand.

They have been fined $50,000 by the Italian GP stewards for not following the crash test procedure for their redesigned gearbox introduced in the sphincter of the universe. They have been summoned back to the FIA to explain e.mails their drivers may or may not have sent. Their drivers have been subjected to ultimatums threatening them with superlicense suspension if they don't grass up their own team. They continue to be attacked for spying by Jean Todt, a man whose team employed someone to transcribe McLaren's radio traffic and give the transcription to their own drivers during GP weekends in the past. They have been visited by the Italian police just before qualifying in what would seem like an attempt to disrupt their qualifying preparations - the team had been there since Thursday. It sucks.

A friend who wanted to know what the Stepneygate spying row was "all about" was mildy surprised to find out that there was no actual spying involved. When he was told it was actually a disgruntled Ferrari employee trying to undermine his team by sending their secrets to a McLaren employee he used to work with, he was decidedly underwhelmed. No clandestine meetings, no long lenses, nothing John Le Carre at all. Spying involves actively going out and collecting information, not being the happy recipient of another team's poor man management. If McLaren actively solicited information from Nigel Stepney and tried to exploit his unhappiness at a lack of promotion by giving him money to pass on Ferrari Intellectual Property then yes, they should be kicked out of the World Championship. But we will have to wait till Thursday for all that evidence to be firmly established once and for all.

At Monza on Sunday McLaren put all the politicking aside and won a glorious victory at Ferrari's home race. What's more, they stuffed them on performance and they stuffed them on reliability, something that was always the Woking team's downfall in the past. The only downside is that Ron doesn't have long to enjoy it."

Hey, im all for the fine. Gearboxes are stressed members and if it has changed sufficiently enough then they should carry out crash tests to verify the car complies!?!?!?!?!?! It sux to see them going through what they are...but a lot of it they have done to themselves.

and for the record, i really think McLaren is better off without Alonso.

I couldnt believe the press conference. Hes a selfish, disrespectful and ignorant individual who doesnt deserve to be where he is, WDC winner or not.

McLaren are MUCH better off having Paffet along side Hamilton.

"Fernando Alonso Is Difficult To Like

It has been, as you might already be aware, a difficult week for McLaren. Next week will be no easier. The team is being attacked on all sides - by the media, by the Italian police, by the FIA, and, if the rumours are to believed, by one of their own as well. Oh the irony of the Stepneygate crisis stemming from Ferrari decrying alleged espionage.

A McLaren one-two on Ferrari's home turf was the ultimate riposte. When Ron Dennis was given a standing ovation by jubilant team personnel, the McLaren MD's icy façade crumbled into tears.

Such solidarity was in stark contrast to the isolation of Fernando Alonso who was busy cutting himself adrift elsewhere.

The Spaniard is a notoriously self-infatuated individual, recently arguing for preferential treatment on the basis that he alone was responsible for McLaren's gains this season. Such vanity is part ludicrous and part responsible for the unwavering strength-of-mind a champion must possess. Yet his self-centredness reached repugnant levels in Monza.

Given licence in the post-race press conference to reflect on the "special" victory ("What does it mean to you personally to win here on Ferrari territory on what is an emotional weekend for McLaren? We saw your team principal Ron Dennis looking quite emotional on the podium"), Alonso remained utterly oblivious to the external significance of McLaren's triumph. "A perfect weekend for me," he announced unabashed, before prattling on at length about his previous difficulties at Monza without ever referring to his besieged team or acknowledging its contribution to the victory.

"Sometimes everything seems to go in the right direction and you feel good," he continued. "All the wins are special but in the last two or three year there are some circuits where I won more than one time or won one time. And here is one I never won before so I wanted to achieve that, try to get at least one win in all the circuits."

Unable to subjugate his individual ambition to the team's cause, Fernando has surely already burnt his bridges at McLaren. If not, he signed his transfer request on Sunday night thus: "The whole weekend has been good."

In view of the damaging events that occured at the weekend, it is difficult to conceive of a more obnoxious and selfish statement being uttered this season.

No wonder Ron was crying. "

If you saw the press conference in its entirety, you would understand the way i feel about this pigheaded driver.

And some of you guys are lampooning LH, when all i ever hear him say is how much he respects RD and the team.. those of you need to get a major grip.

Alonso needs to go.

LOL...now im no Alonso fan, but what is so wrong with the press conference? He didnt comment on all the the off track politics as he and the team probably dont want to lend them more weight then they already have. Business as usual is what they need to put forward and the other teams believe. Its my understanding thats what Alonso did? Meh, its hard to be obective when ppls feelings and bias are at play.

If i was team principal i wouldnt want the driver to mention anything other then the teams domination on the track and the win!?!?!?!?!?

i couldnt have put it better myself..

what McLaren are going through makes me sick.

(from planet F1 )

lol... you are one bias fan, im sure if any of the other teams where in McLaren position at the moment you wouldn't be saying the same thing.

personally i think that all the treatment McLaren has got is fair, the gearbox issue was there fault no one else if they failed to test it or whatever no one else is to blame.

I really hope as other people have said that if they are found guilty of this whole "stealing of information" they are not jsut fine but BAN from the sport from this season and next. If you cheat you shouldnt be in the sport full stop

And also its clear to see you dont like Alonso, at all Maybe it has something to do with your love for Lewis. McLaren is better off having the best 2 drivers, and im sorry but atm Alonso is one of the top drivers in the sport.

I didn't see the press conference but i will be interested to see it now you say he was disrespectful
