Tips On Buying A Used Car

I'm looking at buying a Skyline R33 series 1, 93 model.

I'm thinking of looking over the car myself, getting a mechanic to look it over and getting a REVS check.

Any other ideas or tips to make sure the car I buy is mechanically sound? (not gonna blow a head gasket or gearbox)
