Can't believe he didn't just close this thread...

All computers have slightly different specs. It doesn't really matter that much it would seem. No one ECU has ever stood out as a better performer than the others.

I wouldn't normally dable in a ECU war thread these days as they turn out pointless in all cases, but I thought I'd take this opportunity to discuss E-Manage Ultimate.

E-Manage ultimate was brought to my attention a little while ago ...

If keeping the stock ECU is an option ( as usually is, only if an engine conversion goes down, it may not be ) then the E-Manage ultimate gives the you ignition and injector control.

It DOES NOT appear to work the same as SAFC. SAFC only changes the input into the AFM sensor going to the ECU. E-Manage Ultimate appeared to change the output going to the injectors and the ignition. This means you do have fair greater control and in my opinion, enough control. It also has the ability to use a MAP sensor.

This means it has the same abilities ( when coupled with a stock ECU ) as a true fully programmable ECU, except, it doesn't need a base map. This means its more universal and tuning should be easier.

For around $600 the basic unit is cheaper than the others as it should be, being a piggy back. With a plug in adaptor, its around $750 perhaps?

It does have timing and fuel map full control tho, so its nothing like SAFC or SAFC NEO. Its a clever way of doing what the stand alone ECU's already do ( for most people. as most people do have a stock ECU they are upgrading from, which gets thrown out or left in the car to take car of fuel pump relay or little jobs like that. )

At the end of the day, I'll always remain a "Follow tuners advice" man. However, this new e-manage is a little exciting as it seems to have the goods at a decent price.

A lot of people are scared of the e-manage, I just can't see why...a chimp could program it. I tuned my last car with it when so many other people threw their hands up in the air.

It's so logical it's not funny...need less fuel then reduce the AFM voltage for the given grid point, need more fuel add a percentage extra to the given grid point. Need more timing add extra degrees, need less minus degrees.

I'm talking about the e-Manage ultimate. Not the first one, which is cheaper and I haven't researched.

Sounds like, from what Dan666 says, it works like the SAFC. Where as the Ultimate has greater control from what I can see.

cookiebear - I haven't ever researched the uni chip, although I know alot of WRX's use it, possibly due to MRT seeming to use it alot.

e-Manage Ultimate is a fair bit different in what it can do from the e-Manage Blue from what I have been able to find out so far.

E-manage blue intercepts, but still has a great range of control over timing and injection..with the boost sensor it is extremely good.

I haven't played with the ultimate yet, so I'm not sure what logic it uses to get around the speed cuts etc etc, needless to say it hooks up to a lot more ECU inputs than the blue. It allows individual control over injectors and timing per cylinder..which is pretty good for a piggy-back.

I'm currently using a bikirom though (daughterboard) for full control of the factory ECU

The blue is perfectly capable of getting you over 250rwkw, the ulitmate gives a few extra wank features that you may never use. One good feature though is the 'self-tune' which attempts to steer your AFR to whatever you input, it then adjusts fuel delivery to match...very cool if you can get it running correctly with a permanently fixed wideband O2 sensor. :D

Agree on the self-tune... not much point for everyday users there.

However, you say that the blue controls timing and fuel maps... does it only do this by altering the AFM input signal? Or does it actually send signal out to the injectors and ignitors as does the Ultimate?

If its the former, then I'd suggest there is alot more reasons to go for the Ultimate, leave self-tune aside... actually controlling the timing directly and injectors directly is a big advantage.
