hey everyone, just purchased a skyline gtst m spec s2 sunroof, man, white and stock as a rock standard exhaust and everything. goes very well quite impressed and im going to look after it like a gem. been reading alot of forums on this site and see that the rb25 gets some good power easily. a few mods i dont really understand like safc and things like that. so i was wondering what mods a turbo back exhaust, fmic, cai, pod and 9 psi would make on a healthy engine and what is a top notch perfomance shop that specialise in r25's. Also if there is a good site where it tells u what all different mods mean and how they affect the car.

Thnaks for your time

Turbo back exhaust, FMIC, pod, more boost should see you around 180kw range.. With a fair few flat spots, and your car running rich.

So in this case, you have a few options..

One is to tune your car properly with an aftermarket engine management, such as Apexi Power FC...

With that all tuned up, you should hit above 200kw.. Dont forget to purchase a new fuel pump also..

Depending on where you live, check your state thread for details on workshops etc etc..

Heres a few sites that might help you!!

http://nissanskyline.6te.net/

Ok i only found one. .There was a site which had details about what each mod does and how you should go about doin it. Cant find the link anymore.. hmmm

Anyways use the search button here and you will find thousands of threads!!

Gdluck..

Have a read of the sticky thread: Forced Induction Guide

It has links to a dozen thread that a person new to the scene should read.

Goes over basic mods, what works, what power to expect, what problems occur, and how to fix them.

Without a doubt all the best info you will find is right here in this section :P

i live in ne victoria and rajab racing are a reputable tuner about two hours away

Alan Rajab doesn't touch Apexi Power FC's

Take it to C&D Motorworks in Braybrook, another 20mins further.

Price breakdown:

Apexi Power FC - $1000 (and good luck finding one)

Apexi SAFC -II - $400 (Im selling mine if interested for $250)

Tuning - $250-350

Turbo-back Exhaust - $6-700 2nd hand at a wrecker

Bosch 040 Pump - $205 delivered (ebay - Mick Cita)

Hybrid FMIC kit - $640 delivered (ebay - Flying Performance)

Boost Controller Electronic - $2-300 2nd hand

" " Manual - $25

Good luck mate:

I use to have all the above with a SAFC - 11

and made 211.8rwkw @ 13psi

thanks nabil thats really awesome power for realistically around 5k fitted.. i thought rajab was prettty good but c &d sound like the place to go. how do u go for reliability issues. i am interested for your apexi SAFC but bit tight for funds due to buying the car i want around a daily 200rwkw. would that keep up with a gen3 clubby you reckon

powerfc is not being made anymore right?

my car currently has a turbo back exhaust and pod and is at 7/9psi - making 164rwkws.....

Perhaps keep the stock air box (i just got the pod cos i luv that sound :dry: ) and maybe the power might be just a teeny bit higher?

This is my plans for the car (already got exhaust & pod) - will be investing in a decent front or side mount intercooler, get one of slides high flow turbos, fuel pump, clutch, was going to get the powerfc (but i dunno what to get now that thats no longer in production), boost controller and upgrade the AFM. Not sure what I will be looking at in terms of power, but that will be found out on the dyno. From what I have read, this is what most people do anyway.....

Gen 3 Clubby - :dry::O V8 LS1 :O

Their overated...but there are some beasts out there pumping

over 300rwkw...lets seem them put that power to the ground!!!

With 198.9rwkw on 10psi I ran 13.7 @ 105.5mph with 2.36 60ft (lots of wheel spin)

The mph I got is really a 13.0 -13.2 1/4mile pass.

My last run at calder I lined up a Monaro CV8Z with exhaust ectractors and cold air

it ran 15.1 at 97mph...I left it standing.

200rwkw is very responsive and reliable on the street!!!

some bits to help go quicker;

* 0.8mm gapped plugs (BCPR6ES) a few bucks each

* 10psi or so of boost boost control EBC for under $400 or bleeder

* Pineapples AKA rear cradle bushes about $100 --- helps you get traction

* Turbo back exhaust

* exhaust cam gear

* S-afc II

* upgraded clutch (the stock one dies very quickly) While your at it get a light weight flywheel.

* keep the stock airbox and run a high flow element

That lot is enough to run low 13 or high 12, with a healthy car and tune. Low 13's even if your traction sucks.

My old R33 had the above mods on 10psi odd made about 170rwkw or so and ran 13.3 with a 2.3 60ft (ie: wheel spin a-go-go), a few others have run 12's . This is with a stock intercooler by the way.

R33 RB25det as aposed to a Gen 3 V8 LS1 5.7 litre

has less than half the displacement

makes heaps less torque

and 2 less cylinders

Give us credit :)

Do it right and you will kick your dads ass. :)

A mid to low 13 can be acheived even without the S-AFC, again if you do things sensibly.

The R33 gtst is basically a 13 second car with an exhaust and 10psi of boost, if your car is slower than that you screwed somthing up. Just don't go silly with lots of mods all at once, you may find you don't need all of them to get the car where you want it.

By the way 200rwkw of peak power isn't a very good goal. Think about average power AKA torque instead, thats what makes the car fast and fun to drive.

mate if ur goal is to beat a V8...then u dont need to do much. Look for average power which gives u a good street response, none of this peak power stuff. Get better suspension setup, wheels/tyres or even just tyres Then work on driving it! Mine would do some seriously quick times if I could drive it... LOL
