Low oil pressure at idle on rb20det

my car's oil pressure drops to approximately 75-100 kPa at idle (once at full operating temperature).

anything above idle its almost 400 kPa so was just wondering whether this is the norm with the RB20s?

i'm using helix ultra 5-40w oil, and find the rocker gear is audible at idle when the cars hot also.

im having the same troubles, and im freaking out just in case it can lead to any damage.

im using a penzoil 15w-50 oil

so im thinking it might not be the type of oil.

any info would be great here, just for some peace of mind.

oil should be

1k @ 650rpm

3k @ 3000rpm

4k @ 6000rpm

however the std guage isnt that accurate. if youre really concerned then try an aftermarket guage. in my opinion 5-40 is a bit too thin for an engine going on 10 years old, try 15-50 or 10-40

Those factory guages are about as reliable as a cardboard condom.

Get an aftermarket one to test it.
