Hi Fellas...

I've had a crack at the search function but it's a bit too vague I'm having trouble matching others' problem with this one.

First of all, this problem doesnt occur all the time. It seems to be pretty random.

After an aggressive shift into 2nd (and sometimes but rarely, right into 3rd as well) the entire car will shudder all the way through the gear. I'll feel it in my seat, its not a huge shudder but def. noticable. The car doesn't lose power throughout. Put it into the next gear and it goes away.

One thing of note, is I'm aware that one of my fear subframe bushes have ruptured (the Gel filled ones). I have the new part ready to go, but they are not in yet. >Could this cradle movement be a potential cause of the problem?<

Keen to hear if anyone has had a similar issue. Thanks heaps guys.

Andrew

does it feel like you have haps out of balance wheels?

mine does that. just the atessa cutting in while theres no need to. it shudders the whole car. just happens randomly when driving and go over a bump etc etc.

just lift the throttle and the torque will go back to 0

Check all drivetrain mounting points from the engine mounts back or clutch.

no comparison to a GTR i know but my R31 started doing it when i put my rb25det in.....it turned out to be the centre bearing in the tailshaft.

food for thought.

how much did it cost for you to get this fixed?

I know completly different cars and all, but my old 83 telstar did the same thing. It got worse over time. It turned out to be the torsion springs in the clutch were shagged and the clutch needed to be replaced.

My two cents (might not help, or not be the problem. Just throwing it out there)

its definately not a traction issue? if not you need more power :P dont know if cradle movement will be the problem, but maybe its making a smaller shudder much worse... assisting the problem rather than creating it

IE, don't throw a 30amp circuit, onto a circuit that is only a small circuit. It's best to add a small circuit, to one that is already quite large. Oh, and make sure you're not going to blow the fuses that are further upstream too! I dislike their use in other applications, such as alarms, telematics/tracking devices etc, as it's far too easy for someone to unplug them and render a system useless. Those sorts of devices I go for wiring in quite secretively.

    • Given it is temporary, I bought a  cheapy gauge mount (which has become enflattened) which I will screw into the existing phone mount Also a first for me; given this is a temporary install I could not think of any reason not to use one of those "add a fuse" thingies to source the battery and IGN power. I had always figured they were pretty dodgy but having a good look at them I think they are a valid option for sourcing power from an existing source without cutting
