Hey guys,

I have done a search already which answered a couple of my questions but I still want to know something.

I recently took my rb25de head to southside head recos a macgregor along with my rb26 head as I wanted them to swap the valve springs over. I often do stuff myself but I didn't have a compressor and I prefered something like this to be done by a professional.

Anway they rang me up and said the rb26 valve springs are too long on one side and wont fit. So I contacted performance wholesale who ordered a set of heavier rb25det springs in from Performance springs (that guy in North QLD)

Anyway guy doing the head for me Tony called up and said that these valve springs are too long as well, he said that the valve coil size is what needs to change not the length.

So is anyone running rb26 springs here? or performance springs?

I just opted for the 26 springs as I had a spare set in this head and I thought some ppl had done this upgrade and it was fine.

So whats your opinions?

Ive used Performance springs in the RB25 VCT head, they are a direct fit - you can not use Rb26 springs in the VCT head for the reasons you have already mentioned. From memory the R32 RB25DE head ( non VCT ) has the same springs ( or can use ) RB26 springs.

The GTR springs definitely fit in to the R32 RB25DE non-vct head but definitely not R33 VCT head as has already been stated.

A quick snip from performance springs when I was sorting out valve springs for my head.

Is your engine a solid lifter or Hydrolic? The early RB25 ( I'm lead

to believe ) was a solid lifter engine and this spring is different

again from the rest and would not be able to fit RB20 springs unless

you made up spring spacers that were about .190 ( 4.5mm ) thick. One

of the springs in the RB25 which has 2 different springs ( up to 1997

I think ) will fit into an RB20 and the RB25 Neo spring will not fit

an RB20.

You need to measure your fitted height on both the intake and exhaust

to see what you have so we can supply the right spring. It sound like

your mate IS running into a problem with valve float if it's getting

to a certain RPM and then flattening off and loosing power.

RB25 with 2 different springs ( Springs ONLY, NO retainers ) at $285 +

freight. I'll have to check and see if we have a Retainer to match but

these have been run without any retainer problems that we are aware of.

RB25 Neo ( Spring and Retainer Kit ) $502 + freight.

Hope this puts some light on things.

Not sure how accurate it is. :S

yeah just an update guys was sold ba falcon springs, got the correct springs last thursday.

I didn't actually see the springs at all until they came back from tony because I had them delivered direct from where I bought them straight to the workshop.

anyway all sorted.
