August 10th, 2005 saw the new era of a car for me.

It was this day I brought myself a R33 Series 1 GTS-T Skyline.

Took me close to 4wks to decide if this was the one I wanted or another one that I was looking at.

It was only when things started to go wrong with the 1 I brought, that I wish I had brought the other one.

However... time went on and things started to get done as planned from when I first brought the skyline.

The car was stock standard when I brought it bah 2 things.

Only modifications carried out by the person who owned it before me was a 3" exhaust and BOV.

The owner before me being a uni student couldnt afford to do it up it but had many plans according to what he told me when I brought it off him.

THESE ARE PICS OF WHAT THE CAR LOOKED LIKE WHEN I BROUGHT IT -

After owning the skyline for approximately 2 to 3 months, the car went in to Milanco.

I had ordered through Milanco a Garatte 30/78R turbo. Due to the dump pipe I have my car, this turbo wasn't able to be fitted. So, only other option given to me was to send my standard turbo off to GCG in Sydney to get it rebuilt and high flowed.

The problem I had the following day after buying it was the propella fan was rubbing up against the housing of the turbo. This was diganosed by Dan and a few other people (mechanics) as well.

Milanco not only did the turbo fitting and sending off the turbo to have it rebuilt and high flowed, but also fitted the Apexi AVC-R for me. These guys only connected the boost solinoid and rpm wires, nothing else. After discovering that I paid a fee of "fitting the AVC-R" more then what others charge, it annoyed me that they didnt completely wire it up like they were suppose to. This is where I ended up getting my mate whos a auto electrician to complete the wiring for me.

Time went on and the car was sent off to another mechanic. This time, Dan did the work.

However, during this time, I had lost my licence. Lost of licence for racking up a few points on the licence over a period of time.

3 months went by and during this period, Dan completed the majority of the work done to the car today.

New clutch (excedy hyper-twin platted clutch rated at around 1200HP).

Front mount intercooler.

PowerFC fitted (not tuned).

bosco 040 internal fuel pump.

Fitted the 400R front bar (this was sent off to a mate of dan's to be primed and sprayed).

Splitfire coilpack

Front & rear strut bars.

THE FRONT BAR WAS PRIMED & SPRAYED BY A MATE OF DAN'S.

Who made the front bar, I wont state based on the poor effort put into it and I would not even recommend these people/company to make anyone else kit(s).

The intercooler was the worse of all parts to be fitted as well as the 400R front bar.

Taking the bar off and putting it back on each time became a bitch for Dan.

Left the car with Dan for a week, probably 2 (cant remember) but everything was then completed.

Took it off to Brisbane tunning for a tune and we clocked up 233rwKW's.

This maxed out the standard injectors which I was then in need of bigger ones.

1ST DYNO SHEET OF THE TUNE

post-22617-1167978866.jpg

So, back to Dan the car went for a set of new injectors - Nismo 555CC injectors.

After this, went back to Brisbane tunning for another tune with the new injectors and this time, we made 238rwKW's.

After a while, I wasn't taking much of a liking to Brisbane tunning's tune. The car was every now and then blowing a bit of black smoke and mostly on hard takes off's, etc.

So, after a few other people posted on here there experience of Matt Spry... I decided to give the fella a go myself.

With matt's tune, this was done far better based on the facts that Matt actually has a laptop with the correct software to tune the PowerFC. Where as with Brisbane Tunning, they tuned it through the hand controller.

The car wasn't blowing the black smoke anymore nor was it running as rich as it was when Brisbane Tunning, tuned it for me.

Matt's tune pumped out 208rwKW's.

After a while (a month or so), I got rid of the standard AFM and Matt & myself installed a Z32 AFM.

Another tune and we got 215rwKW's.

A few other tunes have happened in that time frame from 208kw's to 215kw's... but nothin much was gained.

To this day, not much has been done to the car.

I've managed to give it a good hurl around QLD raceway & a few quarter mile runs.

Best lap completed on stock suspension and really crappy tyres @ QLD raceway was 1min & 8secs.

Best time down the quarter mile at Willowbank is 14.059secs.

Shanef & myself installed Tein coilover suspension.

The handling of the car both in straights and corners is far better then the standard suspension.

Of course, sway bars are yet to be done but this is on the list of "to do".

I haven't yet taken it around the track or the qaurter mile, but this will soon be done and hopefully be able to knock off a bit of my time on that quarter mile time I currently hold with this car.

Currently, I have a set of new sideskirts at home along with new m3 style side review mirrors.

These are yet to be primed, sprayed and fitted. This will all be done over the coming weeks hopefully.

Accessory wise, interior & exterior hasn't really been done up to the extreme.

The dashboard has been sprayed to a glossy grey colour.

The standard dials (speedo, rpm, fuel gauge, temp gauge, etc) background has been changed from the standard black to white with blue light bulbs.

A full alpine sound system has been installed (dvd & mp3 player, 7" screen, front alpine 6" speakers with tweeters, rear alpine speakers and to power all that, a alpine 4 channel amp. A 12" sub is in the rear boot for pure bass only).

And of course the more comfortable nismo leather gear knob.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STANDARD HEADLIGHTS & A SET OF PHILIPS CRYSTAL WHITE LIGHT BULBS

post-22617-1167978710.jpg post-22617-1167978724.jpg

Over the coming months, more engine work may be completed on it.

Looking at a complete engine rebuild as well as possibly the turbo upgrade I'm wanting to do.

All this is being discussed with others who will be involved but of course, nothing is being said until its all going to be offically done.

If I can find my dyno sheets that I've scanned to my computers, I'll upload them of course into this thread.

However, if I cant and should I still have them in my folder at home... I'll re-scan them and upload them as well.

Taken up at Mt Tamborine Sunday 7th Jan....

Can see why it's now highly advised never to take pics with tree's in the background...

Thats is quite a history.

With the rebuild, i am looking at doing one to mine eventually.

Have you considered using an rb30 block, since you already have the head?

with the turbo rebuild and highflow, we should be seeing something like around the 250kw mark by now. Plenty of others are puttin out around 230kw's but this car isn't seein that figure and wont even strech out to it with the tunes matt is doing.

i'm lookin at takin it to allstar in a few wks and see what they can do for me.

more then likely will be keeping the engine as is.

not much is to be said as i'm yet to fully talk about what my options are.

possibly forgies, etc. dont know yet though.

Paint is still the same as it came from out of the factory (unless it was resprayed in Japan which I doubt).

I've found a few other things (pics, etc) and added them into the first post.

also found 1 dyno sheet from Brisbane Tunning. The first ever tune after all the mods dan did before the new injectors went in.

no rock chips have really effected any of the paint.

plenty of food for eating in the frontmount though with af ew rocks.

there was one big scratch down the front driver side panel.

dan buffed this out the other wk and no scratch anymore.

i actually thought it went down to the metal, hence i wasn't bothering to get the scratch out.

nice mate.i am also getting a highflow, but i am getting a slide highflow, just waiting for delivery at the moment.be interesting to see the difference,i will post power figures when i get my turbo on and go on the dyno.both the gcg turbo and slide highflow look very simalar, slides highflows are bush bearing and gcgs are ball bearing.at the moment my car has 260hp at the wheels and the best 1/4 mile so far is 13.5 at 165kph,not bad for a stock turbo and the car is auto aswell,i expect the power and 1/4 times to improve when the highflow goes on

Matts dyno just reads low in comparison to most, his tuning would be spot on and that's what a dyno is used for. You wouldn't have gone backwards it's just dynos aint dynos

Damo just cracked under 200 with his R34 highflow etc etc, which is realistic considering the other figures I've heard people get down at PITs

Put both of you on a dyno elsewhere and you will both be over 220, that's why you need one of these bulk dyno days to compare all the members cars in one go.

So what did your first dyno run on Matts net though? He wouldn't have started fiddling til he did a power run.

Ie 238 on Brisbane Tunings = XXX on Matts dyno

Allstar use a dynologic as well, that generally reads lower than the dynodynamics

i'm lookin at takin it to allstar in a few wks and see what they can do for me.

Hey John make sure you book in well in advance...

It seems with the looming dyno day quite a few members and users are seeing Richard for a touch up... Including me... :)

Plus he has to move all between now and the 24th of Feb...

got the same figure on the allstar dyno that i got at Matt's.

hence why i'm lookin at headin to allstar for a tune up.

Now there's a step in the right direction, also car has come a long way mate good to see you kept it and continued to mod it. i think get rid of the wing and put a drift lip on the back, and finish off the rest of the kit.
