being a cheap skate i started tinting my own windows. The drivers and passenger side windows got done no prob, but then came the back window. I tried doing it in 3 pieces but found i would have to shrink it. After i found this new prob i called a few tinters in south bris but none of em wanted to touch tint that was not theirs. So what i am asking is if anyone has had experience in tinting and has a heat gun that could help me out. even with directions

Why would you not just take it to a tint shop...

I mean tinting is not very expensive to get done...

Maby send a pm to 'Baysidebluebnr34' his name is Sam he is your tint man... Im sure he will be able to hook you up at a great price...

Tinting is one of those jobs that is best left to the pro's i think...

it was not that hard untill i got to the rear window. Mate have a go!!!! Its sad that you have a attuide like that. To enjoy a car i feel i have to be a part of the process and get my hands dirty. I guess if you sit on a computer all day looking a porn and eating pizza getting up to piss would be HARD.

Just a question tho...

How much tint would you destroy trying to do the job to make it look professional???

In terms of cost, meaning why not just spend the money and get someone else do it...

If someone else can do a job cheaper than I can then why not support a local business???

(Eg. If you spend $300 on rolls of film to get it right as you need to do it multiple times to get it perfect...)

To do a whole car these days is less than $300 for quality film... Plus you get warranty...

Dont get me wrong, im all for DIY... Just asking is all...

While I was at sams (baysideblue) workshop yesterday there was justins (Im sorry if I got your name wrong mate) car in the shed next door getting retinted. Cost him 200 bucks for the whole car, looked absolutly shmik. The guy started when we started doing my suspension / breaks and was finished before we were, didnt take him long at all.

Im considering going back there later on this month after I get paid to get mine done. The guy clearly knew what he did.

mate you have it ALL wrong. ITs about being aussie and having a go. As for the cost it has only cost me $50 and if i get the rear put on by a pro it will cost all up $110. and to get it tinted by a pro it would cost about $400 including removing old tint so i saved almost $300 enough for some other minor mods like mmmmmm short shifter or white faced gauges, new boots for hand brake and gear stick or take the misses out.
