Tonight on my way to work taking burwood hwy straight towards the city I was aproached at a set of lights but this guy, there was me and this semi done up silvia at the lights.

I saw him walk towards the silvia (as I was still coming upto the lights) noticed there was 2 passengers then flagged me down, I had my window down and he was right next to my door before I could do anything.

Anyway he asked for a lift towards prahan, I freaked out cause I didn't want him to kick my car or something (he was a semi shady looking character) I reluctantly said yes.

Anywho the lights turned green (I should have just floored it) but he ran around to the passenger side, I quickly tossed my wallet which was on the front seat into the back in haste which turned out being a big mistake.

Driving on, I'm on edge as he'd been drinking, we just had the usual small talk as I'm counting the seconds before I can kick him out of my car, on the way he asks if I could give him a couple of bucks so he can get a taxi from where I drop him off i said I'll see if I have any money.

We get to chapel/toorak rd and I pull over on the side near Soda Rock (thinking it's an out in the open place & I'll be ok) anyway he's like thanks can you spare maybe 10 bucks.

I just wanted him out of my car so I lent over in the back to get my wallet, pulled out a tenner and gave it to him, also gave him the poo change which was in my center console (this is the funny part).

He says thanks, shakes my hand gets out and slammed my door and he sorta jogged off, It didn't click as I got distracted by this chick that walked past as he got out.

I pull into my car park at work got out then relised I didn't have my phone on me, that's when I got a cold chill, as expected I went through my car and my phone was missing.

It was in the very same centre console part where the change was, he would have taken it as I lent into the back seat to get my wallet, then seconds later I rummaged through the console where my phone was/wasn't for the poo change as mentioned earlier so he woulda freaked out thus why he bolted off when he got out.

Got to work and called it, switched off :(

I was brought up to help a person out when they needed it, mum also told me to never talk to strangers but this really just grinds my gears, I know I was lucky he didn't pull put a knife and take my car, wallet or worse.

This is a bad mistake that's changed my outlook, A harsh lesson learnt. No wonder people don't help other people anymore, because of scumbags like him.

So Rob if that is your real name, I hope you relise your karma batteries are charging and they will give you what you deserve.

I'm posting this to encourage people to be careful, I relise is was dumb of me in the first place to let him in but it was a difficult situation.

always good to see that trusting people are taken advantage of :( - hence why no one these days wanna stop and help anyone (like what happened to Kaz180 in the "spotted" thread). Specially at night man, you cant really see the guys face properly u know.....anyway, bad luck with it - make sure u call ur service provider and tell them ur phone was stolen.

I keep my doors locked while I'm driving, for just such occasions... :(

Bad luck dude, your lucky it was just your phone and not your car...

same, well my car came with aftermarket alram system that automatically locks doors when you break for the first time....or is this standard? lol

surprised he ddint knock you out when you turned for your wallet, and went off with your car.

thats why i always carry a pole in my car, if some scumbag tries to jack my car or do anything, he will be sure to cop a broken kneecap or just a straight k.o. You cant trust anyone.

stolen phone = nothing these dayz........

You pride and Joy gone = Too hard to comtemplate :(

so y got off lightly my friend !!!!!!!

PS: I would have give him a lift too if i was in your situation......but from now on No way......

hey champ if u want some revenge, get ur fone blocked by ur provider, he cant used it on any network then

so long as uve got the IMEI number ur right

teach that sucker to steal ur fone

pretty sure a quick trip to the local market will soon have that phone completely unlocked and ready to go :(

I know you know it, but you should have just said nicely that you can't, and drove off when the light went green....lock your doors and you would've been fine

easy to chnage the IMEI if u know what ur doing. Or just send it O/S...its not big deal.

trust no one.

i had a guy jump into the passenger seat of my car in a carpark just as i got in myself.

i freaked out, reached over to grab his shirt while yelling at him 'what the fuuck'.

he quickly got out and ran off.

what the hell are ppl thinking?

you really did get off lightly. it could have been far worse.

actually incorrect unless they completely change the hardware inside

I suppose thats lesson learned for you, I learned my lesson when a mate and I pulled over to help some hotty just to find she was with 2 animals that were in some ones front yard stealing garden hose and petrol. They chased me away and then nearly killed my friend and car jacked him. Very scary stuff, I pulled every muscle in my body carrying my friend to someones house to call the cops. I now am very reluctant to help anyone these days and usually have my son with me so will not risk it.

Funny thing is that I knew these animals and they were so juiced up that they did not recognise me or care what they were doing, I thought my mate saw what was going on and would take off after me to pick me up and piss off.

Mind you, if we did not stop they most likely would have hurt the silly girl they got a lift from.

If I was put in your situation with my experience I would have run the red light, I have done this before to avoid crazy road ragers.

Remember hind sight is always 20 20.

Make sure your next phone has a pin code and a maise dispenser if the code is wrong!!! Mua ha ha ha!

Sorry to hear mate and it sucks when you are just trying to help someone. Another reason I dont stop unless required by law or absolutely have to. Have had my wallet and phone stolen when my car was broken into and the inconvienence is a nightmare.

not true. I have done it myself, but u need the right equipment. I did it for legit reasons in a work enviroment...but I know how to do it, and I tell u, so do many other people out there.

    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
