Noisy Tappets..bad?

guys need sum help. Im getting a fair bit of tappet noise from the rear of the motor. is this bad? seriously i got no clue...im assuming it is.

is it when you turn your car off - or whilist running? cause i hear the same thing sometimes , sounds like its has something to do with the location near the turbo and compressor .

iv just noticed a ticking sound after i removed my cam / coil / rocker covers, tryint to sus is out aswell . .

check your fan and belts too - something could be hitting .

It could be noisy lifters. They may be gummed up a bit, and not letting correct oil pressure through to give the correct running clearance. Nulon make an additive for clearing them out.

However, one possibility for the noise could be "piston slap" - the bore has worn a bit, and the clearances to the piston and rings is now out of spec. That can only be fixed with a rebuild of the engine.

Try the Nulon first - it's a lot cheaper.

GTR's don't have hydraulic lash adjusters.

Nulon? u add it ur fuel? oil? and can u get it at ur servo?

you add it to your engine oil, its to free up tappets/lifters

you might be able to get it from servo if they have a few car products

Ive never used it before...but it would be your oil mate as thats what bleeds in and out of the lifters.

Sometimes sticky followers can clear themselves out after a while and they come good again.

do it before you service. Run it through your engine for a few hundred km's, then drain the oil and replace it with new stuff, along with other fluids and filter.

The Nulon stuff is called lifter free from memory, Just add the bottle to the motor through the oil filler and drive around, with any luck the noise should go away. The other fluids referred to would be coolant,brake fuild, gearbox oil etc im guessing.

I heard hearing this noise is a good thing.. Means your car is running fine.,

But thats what i have heard..

SR20s have common issues with lifters..

Just go to your mechanic and see what he says..

Does any1 know exactly what type of lifters the RB25 uses? i.e. hydrolic ones?

It's not just the injectors is it? Check that it's not coming from near them, because most rb20's have very noisy injectors

I wouldnt stress too much Every rb25 i have heared has a ticking sound at idle,it comes and goes. Just drive it till it blows... Then go 25/30
