Pax-Ottomanica
I have a Panasonic flip single din dvd player.. Yesterday i borrowed a couple movies from Blockbuster, insert the dvd into the player and it tells me " Region code error " on both dvd's. Now, I've played many dvd's in my car and never once did this " region code error " show up. From what i know, region code is that " ntsc/pal " bullshit but my player actually has this function where you can switch from pal to ntsc or vice versa with a press of a button on screen in the settings section. Anyone else experienced this before or know what could be causing this? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/150420-flip-dvd-player/ Share on other sites
Trav33
Region code refers to the country/region where the DVD was released, vs the country/region where the DVD Player was released. (Not to do with Pal/NTSC). There are 6 DVD regions around the world, and the idea was to keep them seperate to help prevent DVD piracy. Australia is region 4, the Block buster DVD's would be region 4 dvds. Only reason for this error you are having, is if the DVD player is set to another region, maybe USA? Exactly what panasonic DVD player are you using? Here are the DVD Region Codes FYI: Region 0 - Compatible with DVD players from any region Region 1 - US, US territories & Canada Region 2 - UK, Europe, Japan, South Africa & the Middle East Region 3 - Southeast & East Asia Region 4 - Australia, New Zealand, Central & South America Region 5 - Former Soviet Union, Indian sub-continent, Africa, North Korea & Mongolia Region 6 - China All Region - Formatted for all regions (0 to 6) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/150420-flip-dvd-player/#findComment-2801396 Share on other sites

Nothing to do with Region Code. There is a fix for the Panasonics - need to know the model. Pax-Ottomanica
Trav33 Thanks for the info... I went out and found my self an original region 1 dvd movie, insert into the player and works fine. I guess the dvd player must be from US, i bought it 2nd hand here.. So what i do instead now, get the original region 4 dvd's, burn/rip them with dvd shrink and i get to have a copy and the program it self gets rid of the region code thingy, makes the dvd region free. Region Code Violation is to go with what Trav33 has stated, the NTSC and PAL you refer to is VIDEO FORMAT!Nothing to do with Region Code. There is a fix for the Panasonics - need to know the model. I have this Panasonic dvd player.. exact model CLICK HERE Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/150420-flip-dvd-player/#findComment-2807794 Share on other sites
Trav33
There's ways to "crack" DVD players, and change their region to Region 0 (all regions), lots of web sites about this (maybe google it?). Not sure if its possible with the panasonic drive though...
