HI Doctor, I'd do the reset anyway. But if you have only installed a larger fuel pump and it is pinging, that can only be caused by leaning out. A more powerful fuel pump should not do that. Firstly, are you sure you got a stronger fuel pump? Secondly if you are, then I suggest you get the car along to a workshop that has a fuel pressure gauge and check the pump is actually performing as it should.

There is cause for concern here, either way.

Thanks cheif I think I might have to do that. Could the stock regulator have shit itself? the problem is Im a stuborn bastard, I hate giving in that I cant fix something.

When I installed the pump all I did was hook the neg to neg & pos to pos. Was there anything else that needed doing?
