Hi all,

I reckon the interior of the Stagea is damn nice, and I wondered what do people think of the cloth interior vs the leather trim? Especially interested to hear from owners with the leather option... what's it like on a hot day?

I originally saw and fell in love with the cloth interior style like the one here:

interior_s1.jpg

I have seen this one in a couple of stag's in real life and I think it looks every bit as good as in the photos. It seemed to be the 'deluxe' trim in S1? I haven't seen any S2's with this trim so I guess it was only a S1 option, S2 cloth looks cool though as well (seem to be a few different styles with S2).

Only thing I don't like about cloth is I reckon it couldn't last as well as leather:

...example of the leather S1/2's I have seen. Yeah I really need to test drive one or something to make up my mind but I'm a little way off that stage yet. So... which interior for you???

my S2 has the black leather interior, and I love it. my windows are tinted, and I use a windscreen shade when parked (to keep things cool as well as hide my stereo, gauges and such from prying eyes),so it doesn't get hot.

on the odd occasion when I don't fit the shade, the seats get warm of course, but they don't burn you or anything like vinyl did in old cars.

it's also nicer to sit on,and is easiere to clean than velour.

Justin...

Yeah I prefer leather, but mainly for the ability to clean it, because kids being kids tend to spill things, and it is a whole lot easier to clean leather then cloth. When you leave it in a spot where the sun can shine directly on the seats, (mainly the front ones as the back windows are anodised, well most of them are ) anyway when the suns shines directly on it yeah it gets hot, but I hardly ever do, and if I have to I do leave a sunshade across the windscreen and only once has my wife jumped in and said that the seats were hot, not hot enough for her to jump off it but, and in rockhampton it gets HOT.

The black leather also seamlessly melds in with the other black bits of the interior and my door trim, so it all just looks a lot more proffessional then the cloth in my opinion.

Although when I sat in Robs RIP beast I found that the cloth seats dont seem as flat as the leather ones on the back and the leather didnt seem to have the "bouncyness" on the bottom that my leather did...........?

The "leather" trim is not real leather

There is another name for it, but can not remember what it is called.

Is it listed what it is called in the Stagea sales mags

It is a artifical copy of leather

Series 2 manual trim is the best looking

I have the leather and was one of the features that convinced me to buy the car. Definately adds a luxury feel and th black fits really well with th rest of the car. I think the pic you have might be of my car - did you get it the picture from the presitge motorsport website?

After having my one year old son spill half a litre of milk on the back seat i would never buy a car with cloth again!

If you can get the Momo steerring wheel like the one in the pic you will be doing well. It is the same as the local WRX.

Sorry Darren, the Leather is real..... it is used along with an artificial leather in the sides and back of the seats.

Supplale ® (a Jap interpretation of supple, I guess).

An optional seating system combining genuine leather with SUPPLALE¨ for excellent cost performance is available on the X Series and RS FOUR V models. SUPPLALE¨ has greater moisture-absorbing capacity than ordinary artificial leather, is extraordinarily close to real leather in appearance and is also easy to maintain. (SUPPLALE¨ is a registered trademark of Idemitsu Petrochemical Co., Ltd.)

incidentally if you get the leather option, then I beleive that the rear cargo blind is also leather (probably artificial).

The series 2 manual cloth insert material is the same as a R33 GTR series 1 & 2 grey and blue

So you could get some R33 GTR seats for a upgrade option

I bought a full set of series 2 manual door trims and rear seat to match my Garage Impul seats which a very similar cloth.

Attached is the pair of Garage Impul seats I have in mine

the covers l got from the leatherette group buy are quiet good for what they cost. Just outta interest has anyone else got them since the template was made? i hope my 7wks without seats didn't go to waste.

Ok they're not 100% leather, but look close enough to it and wear quiet well. Just need to get my door inserts done in a black suede.

I wasn't a fan of the cloth, looked too much like an interior of a bus headed to QLD.

    • Pete knows these cars well, he does my car too, if he was concerned about the traction arm length for your use he would have said so. Do you have adjustable bushes in that arm, maybe he got enough adjustment there (or maybe the bump steer was not material for your use of the car)
    • Hmm. Yes. I should have been clearer. 1000s for Haltech, for extra headroom. 725s for Nistune. You might even be OK with 640s, but if the possible power ends up much more than 300 rwkW you will run out of headroom on the 640s. That would probably be OK and a signal to not push it to that sort of power with Nistune anyway. At that level you probably do want to be thinking about engine protection functions. Oh, and all of that presumes 98 only, not E85. Well....the 1000s would allow you to run E85 at ~300rwkW territory, again, maybe sort of running out of headroom. Hard to tell with E85 - depends on the tuner as to how rich they like to set it up.
    • Yes.  The only scenario I can imagine when the answer isn't yes, is if you drive like there is highway patrol behind you at all times.  If your car currently runs, enjoy it and keep saving. Better costs more, keep saving until you can budget the better ECU. It's worth it.  Nope. Plenty of us making >300kw on unopened motors. Mine is unopened and makes about 350kw if I turn everything up, its fine (lots of caveats here, how the car will be used/abused, how long you expect the engine to last between rebuilds, how has the engine been maintained prior to coming into your ownership, etc etc).
    • Sorry just wanting to clarify, at this power goal, which should I be going? Also, More info regarding suspension, the rear upper camber arms were used to get the camber back to i believe around -0.5 ~ -1 degree (@ Road and Race in Rydalmere), I forgot the exact figure, but ALOT less camber than what it came originally which was like -2.5degrees. Are the traction arms still recommended? The bilsteins from SydneyKid, they've got 400lb/in fronts & 275/in in the rear, revalved to his specs. Intercooler, I'm just having a look at some on Rakuten.jp and some other japanese sites. Might get something from back there, GReddy, Blitz or HPI, all crossflow. Looking at roughly $450-$500 AUD + shipping... Theres not many choices except that chinese branded Justjap unless you go for blitz return flow. Yeah, only downside with Haltech is the price ahhaha, so expensive, and with all the sensors if I go that route... $$$$$ yeesh. Are headstuds/gaskets needed for <300akw?
