Lowering Compression?

I will be installing a 35/40 onto my rb25 along with a few other bits and pieces and after talking to a mate I'm wondering if I will need to lower the compression to be on the safe side?

I will be aiming for around 400hp.

What are the pros and cons of doing this and is it worth it?

i cant remember what thickness mine was... be that stock or a tad thicker for my setup.

400hp for the GT35 wont require a heap of boost either being its a 700-750hp one ye? Or is it the smaller .63?

With good fuel/tune, the two important things. You should be ok.

Yeh I think it rated at 600hp with the .82 housing which is what I'm getting..?

Will most likely be getting tuned at PITS which I have only heard good things about.

So you think I should be alright with the stocko one?

oo... the .82 is the 700hp if my memory is working.

A my GT30 600hp was the .82 and the GT35 has the next wheel or whatever.

What do PITS think about it? Have you asked them... they might be in a better spot.

Also check the motor is in good nick before you go winding up the wick

Yeh I wasn't too sure if was 600 or 700hp rated. I haven't talked to them directly but the person I am buying my kit through "6boost" has had many of his customers make400hp and over with the stocko.

What can I do to check the engines condition?

Just a leakdown test etc.

Before you go trying to crank power its best to give it a check.

the workshop should know all about that and sort it out for ya

Forgot to ask, roughly what should a leakdown test set me back?

im installing a 700hp .82 unit. i wont be lowering compression with a headgasket. you would not want to run more than 17psi with the standard engine. if you are rebuilding i would actually raise the compression to increase response.

Have you had your engine leakdown tested croat? I'm not planning on rebuilding the engine atm, I'm hoping to crack 400hp safely.

The car isn't driven that often so I'm hoping it is going to last
