R34 Gtt Voltage Fluctuations

Hi all

Ever since I got my car ive noticed that the voltage fluctuates.

For example, when winding up the power windows, the voltage will go down a little, then spike down some more as the window reaches the top and kinda stops winding.

No big deal to me as I think thats probably normal.

But sometimes, when I drive, if I press the brake pedal, the voltage drops down a volt or 2 very quickly and then rises again. Sometimes little things like this happen which make me wonder if there is a need for a grounding system or something.

Does the same happen to you? is it normal? is it worth fixing with a cheap grounding kit?

Hi,

The power windows fluctuation is normal. As for the brake pedal, I don't get it. Maybe an issue with your battery? I get it when the xenons charge up only for a split second though.

hey there, its pretty normal my rx7 does it and so did my HQ

its just the voltage regulator trying to keep up,

eathing kit might help it but i dont have any expirience with them.

Yeah I think the voltage fluctuation is due to the brake lights lighting up, only happens sometimes.

I had to replace my battery since it was getting old, even with a brand new battery it still drops and spikes here and there upon things like stepping on the brake pedal.

I have the same issue (not with the brake pedal though)

Put in a grounding kit to a couple of points and so far, no difference (well, maybe a smidge but completely)

Try turning your stereo up full volume...u'll notice tht too Its normal I'm pretty sure.

I get that. Happens when I turn on my alarm as well.

Small spikes that occur as the result of an action ie; using windows, sunroof stereo etc. shouldn't be a problem.

Very normal, as John said the stereo makes the needle bounce with bass

I also get it with the indicators when the stereo is using a fair bit of power
