Well I'm in Japan snowboarding at Niseko... Its been snowing all week, with waist deep powder in places.

So my Thursday has been pretty good so far.

Went to super autobacs the other day, was interesting. Went to go to UP Garage too but got hella lost...

Rhett

I know why your asking brisby and i'm happy to tell!! (Still riding a wave of excitement)

Well where do I start, I have officially just had the best day of my life, if i died right now I would feel like my life is complete....

I organised a drive day for an editorial feature i'm doing on P1 Car club for Unique Cars magazine. They gave me 5 cars in Sydney for the day, A Ferrari 430 Spider (Red), Lamborghini Gallardo (Yellow), Aston Martin V8 Vantage (Dark Grey), Bentley Continental GT (Silver), Porsche 997 Convertible (Silver).

I picked up the cars from Star City Casino this morning (thats where they are stored) and I started in the Ferrari and spent most of my day in it, we did have the opportunity to share the cars, I also spent alot of time in the Aston (That car rocks!) and Lambo (which I wasn't overly impressed with), I enjoyed a shorter spin in the Bentley (That thing is quick!). We drove from 9.45am-4.30pm. Up to the state forest through there (Quickly) and to a few other nice hot spots.

I had some clients driving the porsche and 4 drivers for the other cars. My editor had the Bentley for the most part of the day. I inlisted the help of Snowy (Snowman) and James (Jamezilla) to fly up an be drivers for the day (before you start complaining about my selection of SAU drivers you had to be over 30 years old), Snowy's car for most of the day was the lambo (Which he absolutely loves) and James was in the Aston (but also had a stint in the ferrari for the photographer. He even had a bit of sideways action with me in the passenger seat!)

Anyway that Ferrari is the most amazing car in the world, words cannot describe how I feel about that car and in my lifetime I will own one if it kills me. The lambo didn't do it for me, sure it looks good but getting out of the Ferrari into that thing is just a let down for me, it had only done 5000 clicks and the interior was battered, it was also very annoying to drive in traffic and visability was crap. It just cannot compare to the ferrari AT ALL. The aston is the best value for money and is amazing, opens up after 4000 rpm and makes a sound like the world will end (the ferrari does it a 3200 rev's though and its sooo cool)

Anyway my preference in order of the cars, :) Ferrari 430 (This thing rocks, out of this world and i can see why people would spend that much money on a car like this!), >_< Aston V8 Vantage (This thing also rocks, bang for buck definately a good buy better than anything in its class and the lambo), Lamborghini Gallardo, Bentley GT & the Porshe.

Pics to follow if anyone is interested...

Now i sit lonely in my hotel room in sydney pondering the day, I will shut up now.

Sorry James has got the pics, him and snowy are on there way back to melbourne.

We also had a proffessional photographer for the editorial story...

GTR Geoff - have you driven them both? Don't knock it till you try it, the 430 is just amazing, i could've driven it for ever.

LOVE the aston to bits but if i had 500k to spend the ferrari is a must if I had anything less the Aston V8 Vantage would be a clear choice, they are both fantastic but the 430...... shessh.

Geoff will do just fine Juz. We aren't formal here.

I can honestly say the 430 is not something I have driven, but I have driven several others including a 355 and the unwanted attention and noise will get a bit raw after a few days, whereas something with real style like an Aston (in my case a DB7 but I do understand the Vantage is a real beast) will be a keeper. Personally I'd be more for a Maser quattroporte. I'm lucky to have family with money and a passion for nice cars. Just the buggers won't let me have one for mare than a day or so >_< but I do show them a bit of fun. My young lady cousin had her cheap beater die so her dad gave her the keys to the 308. 3 days and she gave it back and hired a car. Just sick of every tool wanting to drag.

Glad you had a fun day though. :)

The 430 is different to those Ferraris.... For me it was amazing, however at the end of the day we all had chats about what car we liked the best and would take home if we had the choice (dreaming mode). Two of my clients said of all of the cars they would take the Bentley so it does just depend on the person.

This clip of the 430 shows what it is like, I drove it in sports mode to start and then for the rest of the day I flicked it into race mode.

    • I did a bit of googling, the color MCM used was Galaxy Grey from House of Kolor. This is actually a colour I picked out about ~10+ years ago (or more). This one is a stock BMW colour, I guess over the years I figured it was smart to get an OEM colour that was pretty common for all of those sensible reasons one can think of..
    • I absolutely love having clean wheels and also totally love cleaning them. Its not as important to me to have a clean car exterior as it is to have clean wheels. So I bought a kit. I generally use different products for my wheels than anything else, so I thought I'd buy a proper kit and bucket to keep it all in. I got this one from Waxit. I also got the CQuartz wheel and plastic ceramic along with a bunch more application micro fibre pads as CQuartz never provide enough.  The kit was good, but as usual the big, long spongey thing didn't fit between my spokes, so I needed to use a detailing brush and a larger brush that I already owned (been doing this forever, the spokes on these wheels are frustrating.) I did a full clean with the wheel cleaner, it has an iron killing product in it, so I found that I could just use the cleaner and nothing else on the wheels. The tyre cleaner and handled brush were awesome. Made cleaning the tyres so easy. Once everything was clean, I decontaminated with isopropyl and applied the ceramic. Two coats. I bought 2 bottles as I have a lot of wheels to do, half of one bottle did two coats on these. The X5 has 20's so I reckon probably 3/4 on that. Then, for possibly the best part, the wheel cleaning kit comes with a tyre black applicator. But, this is possibly the greatest sponge of all time - its a great size, quite stiff and HAS A COVER! When you finish applying the black, you just put the cover back on! This is revolutionary, I normally have to try and find safe places to put my tyre black applicators as they are covered in silicone and tyre crap. Or, you use something which just falls apart. This applicator is the bee's knee's. Get one. It's worth it. The tyre black is also like a cream, its very thick but goes on really thin, its very easy to use with the applicator. Ayway, after a big clean, decontam, ceramic coat and tyre black the wheels went back on and they look awesome.   Thought I'd share.
    • Haha. Good work. I feel some of your pain because I spent a bunch of time under my car over the period too. Probably nowhere near as much as you did. My happiness is similarly improved by obtaining a desired result though. Those side skirts are.....hecking. Very unfriendly for street and hoist. Sounds to me like you've made a cart that needs to be driven up only planks/blocks at a 2 post hoist, rather than trying to get it up onto a 4 poster. It's very pretty, by the way. Somewhat reminiscent of Marty's squid ink on SuperGramps - at least in the photos.

    • ATTAKD 356mm Brake Kit for R34 GTT or R33 GTST. Same brake kit as per here from JJ: https://justjap.com/products/attkd-brake-kit-nissan-skyline-r34-99-02?currency=AUD Can confirm these will bolt directly to a R33 GTST with 12mm bolts OR to a R34 GTT (which is what I had) with the supplied bolts and the collets for the 14mm bolt holes in the R34, which are included. Also included is a set of rotors and hats, as well as 2x brake pad sets. 1) DBA XP (street, hills) 2) Forza FR6 (track) These are radial mounted and bolt directly to R33/R34. You will need extended brake lines to avoid them being full stretch on lock - this is common for all BBK's with the bolt point being in the center. In my case I welded another stud about 25mm lower than the OEM one and retained stock lines and fittings. You'll want a BM57 BMC to get the most out of these. I speak from experience. $1800 (neg for SAU people), located SE Suburbs Melbourne.
