Hey all I have a 95 gts-t, mods are just air filter and ebc everything else stock. I was wanting to know why I cant seem to get 10psi to hold. I have a pit ebc and my lo setting is 10 psi when boosting it gets fairly close like anywhere from 7psi to 9psi but it does not hold 10 psi, even when it boost it fluctuates in between 7 and 9 psi and never really remains constant at al,l i might get 10 psi as a peak boost but not constant. Sometimes I even get over boost of 15 psi but 10 psi never holds. I wanted to kno if this is because i am still on the stock exhaust or should it be able to get to 10 psi and hold even without an exhaust? Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks.

90% its your exhaust. Your not generating enough exhaust to drive your turbo at 10psi. put a turbo back exhaust with a nice 3" dump pipe (total cost < $1000) and you'll hit your 10psi no probs.

also i hope your not running a stock turbo on 15PSI.. your really pushing the limit there.. i'd suggest no more than 12 PSI.. and you'd really want to have good intake mods to support that... (FMIC + air filter).

In my experience I've had trouble getting the standard rb25 5psi actuator to hold any decent amount of boost. Such a soft spring rate has trouble holding the wastegate closed under higher pressures.

It may not be a problem at such mild boost levels but its worth a try, and is certainly a cheaper option to a 3in turbo back exhaust (although you should get one of these also).

A budget alternative is to use the factory actuator from the rb20 which easily bolts straight up.

To test the exhaust drop it from the front of the cat and take it for a quick drive.

I am wondering if you have a split hose somewhere in the wastegate vacuum line or the one going to the boost controller.

My stock actuator held 1 bar for a fair while but struggled above that after a few weeks.
