Modified Cat

gettin a new dump pipe/front pipe on my 33 in a couple of weeks and was also gonna get a new cat. was told of a cheap alternative to a high flow cat. the cat is modified so that there is just a pipe goin thu it so it actually does nothin and is like havin no cat at all but it looks like u do have a cat if that makes sence. has anyone done this to ur car? is it to loud and how effective is it?

It's effective, but not a good idea on the street!!! Just get a proper high flowing cat.

Yeh it would be loud and your car will backfire/shootfire after every change. Cops will notice it and the fine on no catalytic is something absurd like $13k so yeh go a proper high flow, they still flow pretty well

haha yeh, nothing to drop the heat (cat) = flame, if u wan flames either get urself one of those kits off ebay or make a topic about flutters, haha

You wont shoot flames if the car is correctly tuned

Flames generally only occur in a street car when the car is running rich (read:poorly tuned).

Its just unburnt fuel igniting from the exhaust temps.

i did that ones... did shoot flames but only when backing off after holding it flat for a wile.. due to large abouts of unburnt fuel!

but yeah heavy fines, they recently went up from 10k so not sure what it is now!

Speaking of cats, i was talking to psiproducts.com.au bout the trusty metal'cat - and f*k me, no wonder people use the magic cats, they quoted me US$440 for the 3.5!!
