So I decided I'd get one of these kits and just see, I figure $150 isn't *too* bad to waste if it completely sucks. I chose the "Real Carbon Fibre" option and it certainly does seem to be real carbon (that's a plus)

Some pieces are good and fit well, namely the main centre console parts & around power window switches. However, some are obviously not so good..*see gauge surround  *

These are just the pics of it in its packaging as it arrived, will have a go putting the pieces (that are good) on tomorrow and post the pics of them on.

Just thought some other people might want to see what these are actually like if they ever considered buying one but couldn't find any info or decent pics.

Im assuming this is a general double sided tape stick on sort of thing?

Looks good .. Gauges well guess you cant ask for much .. You can get stickers from Remote controlled hobbie shops to match the c.f if you want to..

I put on the pieces yesterday & here is the finished product..

I didn't use all of the pieces because as I said in the first post, some are complete crap - don't fit well etc.

The main console pieces fit well so I'm happy about that & also the window switch surrounds look decent too (I botched the passenger one up a bit though, didn't line it up properly)

DECIM8 - It is just double sided tape holding the pieces on - it seems to be doing a good job so far..

The link on ebay if anyone wants to have a look is:

Don't mean to be nasty, but I'm not a big fan. It looks really nasty. it looks like it's just stuck on and it is.

Nah, I know everyone will have different opinions..it's really only a temporary situation until either someone is making the pieces in real CF or until I have the spare money to get them modicoated. The other sh*t that Nissan coated it in was just getting scratched too easy & that looked even worse I think.

N15M0 - It took about..10 days since I payed til it arrived.

so terd r u a girl?

moving along.. I think the old removal and respray would be the go with the r34 consoles.. looks ok, if all the peices fitted it would look 10 times better.. pitty it doesnt.. maybe rip out the dremel!

IM not a fan of the carbon fibre look.. it gives a nasty look to the dash, to in ya face. i do however like traman18 dash, thats nice.

sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone else have problems with dust and crap sorta sticking to the middle console??? i use armour all, and it cleans most off, but it takes ages to clean, and in few days time, its back on.. any suggestions?

Isn't the whole point of adding carbon-fiber to the interior to add strength and save weight, using stick on stuff is just adding pointless weight. Hey, it might look cool but isn't this RICE??

Plus it looks like it's gonna start peeling any second, Pull it off before it leaves sticky shit all over the original surface...

adding strength to the dash console ? is that needed? am not too sure.. but with you on the stickers. gross me out. And they shouldnt leave too much of a mark.. i had mine for 3 weeks or so and they came out cleanly when u apply even force throughout. Whatever of the glue is left can be removed either with acetone or sanding it out with 400grit

    • Also, a tip for young players  Check the dates on new tyres before they fit them, I always ask this question at the tyre shop, as they have tried to put "new" tyres on one of my cars a few years ago, but the build date was about 3 years old
    • Yeah - 4 or 5 years is the limit for decent tyres. Pedestrian grade tyres with 400 TW ratings start out hard and don't start to suffer until they are somewhat older again. But the stickier decent stuff? Nup. My current ADO9s are < 2 yrs old, 17000km in, only have about the minimum 2mm of tread depth left, and they are.....not what they used to be. They are clearly much harder now than when new. Whether that is heat cycles (unlikely, for a road tyre), different compound between top and bottom of tread, or actually aging out (in less than 2 years!!!) is not really able to be discerned. But I'd credit actual aging as being at least part of the cause. I've got an old pair of ~50% worn AD08Rs in the shed that I really need to get rid of. They started feeling waaaay too hard to put back on the car after a couple of years sitting there.
    • Personally I wouldn't put tyres over 4 or 5 years old on any of my own cars. Once they go hard the grip characteristics completely change. As per most things it only matters in an accident and that's when you most want them to do their job!
    • I'm replacing the front tyres on the E39 tomorrow because one of them has a few gouges out of it. There is so much tread still on them but they're also 9 years old and the rubber is super hard.  This falls within the guidelines of 10 years old that I've read which surprises me given their condition.  I'm curious about whether you guys care about tyre age or just judge the tyre based on condition? How old would you consider too old?
    • What starts as a scratch, becomes a flesh wound, then quadruple amputation. Jus' sayin'. Crush resistant gloves (The ones with the rubber strips down the back of the hand and fingers) might not be a bad idea after all!
