I have been needing a solution for my AFR's for a while now and while I could get something like a SAFC I have figured I might as well spend a bit more and get something a bit more comprehensive. The control over timing and the removal of other ECU limits will be useful. Was looking at the Power FC's but now as their not readily available I have been looking at the GReddy E-Manage.

I just wanted to know, is it work getting the Ultimate version? What are the useful extra features over the Basic model? The thing is for me, besides the extra cost of the Ultimate, the Basic version can also be interfaced to the E-01 boost controller screen which might be useful to me if I get one down the track (if I can find a good location for the huge thing in the cabin )

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :P

how exactly does the emanage remove ecu limiters ?

I think its just limiting the sensor readings before they hit the ecu limit , which isnt as useful

you can still get pfc's new for rb25s , there a little more expensive than they used to be but not by much and still good value

Car is a manual.

Yep I aware I could still get a PFC if I tried and I know it would be the better solution, but ultimately as I was originally just looking at getting an SAFC I think the E-Manage is the better option. With the prices of PFC's now for an R34 plus tuning I would be looking at a total of around 2k.

Also I have looked further into the differences between the Ultimate and the Blue version - I think it will be worth getting the Ultimate and missing our of the Profec E-01 compatability.

Now what do people think tuning costs might be for the E-Manage? I am assuming it will be less than a full tune with a PFC as really only the fuel and timing maps will need to done - is this correct?

Thanks :)

Is the Ultimate a full ecu replacement? I cant remember I think it is. While the blue one is a piggyback.. The PFC takes no time to install...thats where your cost will be..and asusming ur tuner has the software for the tune, which he should.

I had an emanage installed and a PFC...the emanage cost me more (blue basic one) as it took longer to install..tuned fine though.

The Ultimate is still a piggyback ECU, just a very comprehensive one. I'm thinking I might give the actual installation a go as I am pretty handy with that kind of thing, and it looks pretty straightforward as long as you take you time and make sure you have it all done right before you power it all up. Then tuning shouldn't cost as much as a PFC tune (I don't think).

I don't know maybe I will wait a while and see what happens in regards to a new model PFC, or maybe I will come across a second had one cheaply (doubt that though).

its the splicing of the wires that takes the time on the piggyback. Ive done it with a SAFC, cbf doing it again.

the PFC fits straight into the stock loom.

Tuning will be roughly the same, its all about time. If they are not used ot it it may take longer.

Tuning an emanage is quicker than say a powerfc so dyno time is reduced, but if the tuner is inexperienced with emanage then you will probaly pay the same. So there is an advantage to go to some-one with emenage experience if you want to save $$$

The software is set up so that even a green tuner can come to grips with it very quickly. The instructions for use are fairly average so we lucky it is pretty much self explanatory :D

dont get me wrong i still tune as many PFC's as emanage but i find many have "overspent" and could have got the same result with less expense. for guys happy to stop with mild mods the blue emanage is fine but if for any chance you do decide to continue on the mod path its is fairly easy to "outgrow" the blue, whereas the ceiling for mods on the ultimate is pretty much the same as a PFC.

all I know about emanage is 4 years ago walking past the greddy stand at tokyo autosalon a japanese guy turns to his japanese friend and says "emanage?" his friend replies "fck off emanage!!" it's had me (and nick) in stitches ever since.

other than that they look good for the price and are definately a little cheaper than the PFC and have some nice options too (like 2 maps, ign cut etc). but they certainly wont be any cheaper to tune than a PFC. will be about the same I would think time and cost wise over all.

if I don't sell the GTST soon I may try one on it since atm the only easy options for them are modified GTR PFC, or scarce AP engineerng PFC, or chip and tune the stock ecu.
