So your saying an Emanage is better than a Power FC Trent?

As you are a Trust Dealer, perhaps you could explain the this one for us :D

I am also a APEXI PFC dealer and tuner..... is that a fair answer? in fact anyone got a R34 GTR? i got one to many that i need to rid myself of $890+gst.

this is just the harness. its not a loom or a direct bolt on. You still need to splice it into your stock loom

The emanage is universal...

you can buy a plug and play harness. on 1 end is a plug that is the same as the plug on your ecu (plugs onto the cars wiring harness), on the other end is a plug the same as your cars harness (plugs into your ecu) and in the middle is the plug for the emanage.

for the average car owner who has a few bolt on mods the PFC is plug and pray and bullet proof

the hand controller lets them quickly and easily do whatever they need and the basics to get it sorted

no need for a laptop or software and changes can be made in real time

ie: if you only have access to penis fuel cos you are in a crap town, then you just back out some timing

if youve put in jungle juice, then add in some timing, if you need to check the sensors look at the sensor screen

its all quick and easy and worst case if shit goes wrong, unplug the FC and plug in the stock ECU and its all undone.

So why aren't you a PowerFC tuner yet? If it was so easy then everyone with half a brain and a PowerFC manual would be starting up dyno tuning workshops. Seriously, even though the facility is there so the DIY guru can tune their own cars - how many are game enough? How many actually know at which points to alter fuel / ignition? How many are willing to take that gamble?

I think all tuners have gone through a lot of training (which in some cases they pay a lot of money to do) so simply saying that anybody can make quick n easy adjustments would be somewhat far-fetched and wrong. If i was a tuner who has years of experience / training - I'd actually be pretty insulted if a kid rocked up and said "stuff you and your training, i can do that just as easily as you can"

Tuning an emanage is quicker than say a powerfc so dyno time is reduced, but if the tuner is inexperienced with emanage then you will probaly pay the same. So there is an advantage to go to some-one with emenage experience if you want to save $$$

The software is set up so that even a green tuner can come to grips with it very quickly. The instructions for use are fairly average so we lucky it is pretty much self explanatory :D

dont get me wrong i still tune as many PFC's as emanage but i find many have "overspent" and could have got the same result with less expense. for guys happy to stop with mild mods the blue emanage is fine but if for any chance you do decide to continue on the mod path its is fairly easy to "outgrow" the blue, whereas the ceiling for mods on the ultimate is pretty much the same as a PFC.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up getting a PFC a while ago, finally getting it tuned this Monday! I still did like a few of the features (2 maps, easy laptop connectivity etc) of the E-Manage Ulitmate though (and it would have cost me much less than what I had to pay for the PFC!). Anyway I'm happy with the path I went down, and will be even happier next week when its tuned!

who are you getting to tune it here in perth?

i have no interest in running a car workshop, althought the thought has cross my mind a few times.

ive tuned my car on the road with a wideband up the exhaust and also tuned ign timing.

scored more than 550ks to a full tank with 02 feedback off so its certainly possible.

i documented all the steps in the PFQ faq so its not exactly rocket science.

the IGN timing is easy and can be done in a few short steps, its listed in the guide.

the thing to note with the PFC with the handcontroller if you need to, you can do it all pretty quickly.

so if you break down, something dies etc its all in hands reach. and there are LOTS of tuners

  • 3 weeks later...

I was led to belive it was all to do with the firmware version on e-manage,but there was a later one that fixed that,

there must have been an issue of some sort with the earlier firmware,as it wood cook them or the ignitor.

carnt remember which one tho.

Can someone with experience with the emanage confirm that when u update the firmware you do not loose your tune.. And if you do can the tune be backed up from the device and reloaded once firmware is updated?

Thanks for your responce gtstcoupe

Paul, the e-Manage Ultimate has a USB port so connecting a laptop takes 2 seconds. Making changes is child's play (although knowing what you're doing is a bit tougher :(). Although it might not be as convenient as the hand controller when you're stuck somewhere, it does also mean you don't have a chunky controller on your dash when you don't need it (i assume most of the time). I'm perfectly happy with the EMU although i can't imagine it being any different if i had got a PFC.

turbs33, if you're worried you can always back up your map via USB before doing the update.

Ok Back to the emanage...

Can anyone explain the "emanage blue doesn't like the coils on r33" rumor that gets around... is their any issue with the coils and e manage blue? what about split fires?

the original blue emange required an ignition adapter for R33 and if installed without it WILL burn coils, however an update fixed that because so many forgot to fit the adapter.

R34 GTT DOES still need an adapter part number 15900906 with the blue and the ultimate needs 15921500 (plug in module)

100% wont lose your tune.

Guys I am looking at these plug and play kits for r33 on ebay. Seems like ok value to me (except software is not incuded )

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...p;rd=1&rd=1

If purchasing a r33 kit like this, would u just do a firmware udate first to ensure no coil pack frying? Would this kit on its own give me the ability to trim fuel and ignition?

URAS I am not trying to have the fastest car or nothing, just want to make better use of my mods, eventually ending up with a a/m turbo and injectors looking for say 250 rwkw. Is the emanage blue for me?

yeah that is the same as the kit i use in our S13 (220rwkw) and it does the job fine, im sure if you wnet to your local autobarn they would match that price and you would have the peace of mind of having warranty. Greddy will not honor any warranty on products sold outside its dealers.

you can always get a p plater to do a burn out and wait till he crashes to own the pfc?

im sure he'll be dead and wont need to use it :(

what do u guys think of the apexi's neo? the new colour screen one.. is it completely same as the safc 2 ? does it have the same tuning capabilities as the e manage ultimate as im leaning towards apexi more as i've called few tuners in my area and they dun wanna do emanage ultimates
