hi there

still hunting around for towbars, considering the max ones, but would need to get it fitted in SA.

I also went into a reputable tow bar workshop today. Quoted 495 for a custom heavy duty tow bar fitted... BUT they cannot fit H/D to my car as it was a large fuel tank and cant run tow bar stuff to one side of the chassis rails for strength/integrity. the could do the basic one for $395fitted which i dont want as i cant tow a car with that!

So - if i was to get a max towbar, and took it somewhere in SA - would they say 'we cant fit this and dont recommend etc etc etc...

Who has got a h/duty towbar in SA and where did you go???

thanks

-Matt

Tried to fit it myself but slight grinding and drilling required. Did not have tools at the time so got it fitted somewhere else.

Overall, nothing major and if i had had a grinder/right tools at the time, I could have done it.

Afterall, we are all but mere mortals.

I had my Max towbar installed by a workshop in sydney. Design of the towbar is great and nice and strong

Fitting was a real PITA, my car has a rear spoiler extension which made it much harder and the measurements were not quite right so some adjustments required. Also needed to modify exhaust mounts to ensure the muffler didn't hit.

But the bar itself seems to be the goods, I need to tow heavy cars so I needed it as strong as possible

    • I already got plug and play Link ecu G4X. Main concern is that the de loom works on s1 motor or not? I already rewired injector and coils loom to suit my bosch injectors and bosch vag coil. I’m not running any Iacv. For cas running the nz wiring kit i bought the neo plug one so it suits the wiring but don’t know it works or it doesn’t matter they work the same on every motor. For wastegate solenoid do i need to wire straight from ecu? What can i do for iat sensor to work or same run from ecu? For Vct solenoid, right now i got s1 vct solenoid on motor so do i need to remove neo connector and add s1 connector to work? Any other thing i missed i need to do to make the motor working on de loom. Any different mechanism on neo vs s1?
    • Yes I was planning to get it to a tuner with a dyno, but they told me to wait till September because the heat really started now and it is not ideal to do it in this heat.
