???? Dont recognise any of those cars from any events i have been to???

At the end of the day Ash summed it up. I think the club onbly cares when its a club event. The club is about like minded people havign a bit of fun....not mind control expecting every member to agree on every topic and enjoy exactly the same pursuits

I'm pretty sure its PAID members that they are talking about.

If you're not a paid member, keep dragging ...................NOT (BORAT VOICE)

paid or unpaid it shouldnt matter mate... btw i wasnt actaully there

I'm not sure if it is the clubs concern or not as I'm not a member but I think it does matter especially if they are advertising the club. Everyone is right, personal actions should not be associated with the club, and you can't expect everyone to agree. But from an outsiders point of view, if I saw a car with SAU stickers over it at such events I don't think it does well for the public perception of the club.

So I guess if you like those events then don't advertise the club on your car when you attend them???

It's pretty simple I reckon, I can understand it's exciting to see this sort of thing happening but at the end of the day if you go down there in your Skyline with SAU Vic stickers on your car you're a fu(king moron and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. If you want to go and watch then go, just don't do it in car with the club logo on it. If police start to associate those stickers with fu(ken tools that bring the club into a bad light then when I get pulled over for a "random" check I'll be painted with the same brush...

What said: im not going to abuse the police jsut share my story. basically msot of you know what happened on princes highway with the drags and people breaking in to the video store etc.. well anyway the day after (saturday) i was at a birthday party for one of my friends. after the party i drove my friend hoem who lives jsut off princes highway (where all this stuff happened) on the way stopped by a booze bus took my breath test all sweet. left his house and was heading to see my gf. couldnt be botehred going on the freeway and the only otehr way is princes highway. so down i go. this guy in an xr8 ute is revving his car and launches from the lights and speeds away, i didnt race him as there was literally about 50 cops on the way up and back and drove normally.. max i boosted it to was about 2 psi (literally lol) then i get the flash behind me so i check my speed limit.. doing just over 75 in an 80 zone (had it on cruise) straight away i am told to turn the car off and get out of the vehicle. officer says to me "what the **** are you doing on this road mate? you know the shit that has happened" i told him my story and i was about to see my gf the copper then tells me "i dont give a **** i dont wanna see ***** like you on this road again" asked him what i did wrong and he didnt answer me popped my bonnet and was trying to canary me.. asking why i have the line blocked off for the hicas.. told him and he said there was never 4ws on a 300zx... i proved him wrong and he got upset so started looknig for p-plate on back window. it had fallen off and he asked me what i did for a job (mind you i was being polite and calm as they were yelling for some unknown reason so i didnt wanna make it worse) told him im a courier and he goes great now i can take 3 points off your licence and your gonna lose your job, we are sending a letter out in the mail. as they drove off i yelled **** this and slammed my bonnet down. they chucked a u-turn and said what the **** is your problem mate. say that to my face. and he started pushing me around. i asked if he was gonna bash me next and he jsut laughed and said im going to be cahrged with using bad language or something and he will see me in court and got back to his car. i walked up there and said "mate give me your badge number im going to report you for pushing me around" he replies with "it will be on your fine" fair enough i say give me the drivers badge number for absuin me. they both got out of the car and said ohh you ******* smart ass. i was on the fone to my dad at the time explaining what had happened when they grabbed me around the throat as soona s they jumped out the car... my dad heard me being strangled and callin out for help so they hung up my phone and slammed me into the ground head first. i was sitll beign strangled and said i coudlnt breathe and to get his knee out of the back of my neck and he said he wouldnt until he had me cuffed and if i didnt put my hands behind my back to get cuffed he would bust my windpipe. so i complied and was layin on the floor for 10 minutes while they called a divvy van. they were hanging around my car so i lifted my head off the floor to see what they were doing and the sargeant (driver) came over and said wtf do you think you are doing this isnt a ******* game ****! and booted me three times to the back of the head. my chin snapping the floor with each kick. when the divvy van rocked up i was thrown into the back as i asked for my keys and phone they said here you go.. dangled them infront of me and slammed the door shut. the dirvers of the van were taking corners hard so i would smash my head into the walls put i put my foot agaisnt the door so i couldnt slide. was chucked into the cell for about 30 minutes and released.. when i asked for my keys and phone he said they are in your car.. great i thought my car is gonna be stolen. so i had an hour and a half walk back to my car which thankfully was still tehre (windows down key in ignition) so i called up my dad and we went to make a complaint to the police station. the coppers in there all knew each otehr and had made up a story of me kicking both officers twice thats why they hit me and wouldnt have a bar of me and kept tellin me to piss off. eventually the chief inspector rocked up (good bloke) and i asked ot have a chat with him. he had told me that he knows that they have done wrong and said even if i did kick them (which i didnt) they could only use necassary force and will take this further. he said the offiers involved have bene accused of this many times and my complaint will be enough to see them in court including all the other times they ahve done it as they have enough evidence now. so basically i have no licence now for losing 3 points for not having a p-plate up. i am going in on monday to talk to the inspector and get a statement down on monday. he had taken pics of me and was shaking his head about the coppers the whole time he was takin pics of my injuries. so basically because i drive a nice sports car and i was on the same road that all this shit happened i ended up copping a beating for it by the police.

also i was told by that officer if i was ever seen on that road again he will kick my ass and confiscate the car.

really made me think twice about attempting to join the academy but then when i met the chief inspector and how polite and understanding he was it just changed my mind again

anyway that is my story of tonight so anybody in a zed stay clear of there if you are a p-plater as you will no doubt be dealt the same thing. off to have a shower now to wash all the blood off my face (yeah it is still dripping heaps after about 4 hours) and take off my blood stained clothes. will post up pics tomorrow.. and of the nice bruise he gave me on my cheek bone when i opped a punch... if only they werent in uniform i could have defended myself.

From 300zx forum.

thats the dude from my work...from his story it doesnt sound like he's comin into work for a while...but if he does i'll see if I can get the inside word

P.S just then on the news, the cop basically said 'if you have a group of 1000 people then the police can't do anything'.....

not the message i'd want to be sending ...

Race related riots at the tennis....the world is ending.

Whats this one about? Please fill us in!

If that story is as true as he says (I'm sure it's a little bent) then thats horrible!

I don't believe his story. I'm sure he got cocky by opening his big mouth, throwing away some swear words or insults and received a belting for it.

    • First up, I wouldn't use PID straight up for boost control. There's also other control techniques that can be implemented. And as I said, and you keep missing the point. It's not the ONE thing, it's the wrapping it up together with everything else in the one system that starts to unravel the problem. It's why there are people who can work in a certain field as a generalist, IE a IT person, and then there are specialists. IE, an SQL database specialist. Sure the IT person can build and run a database, and it'll work, however theyll likely never be as good as a specialist.   So, as said, it's not as simple as you're thinking. And yes, there's a limit to the number of everything's in MCUs, and they run out far to freaking fast when you're designing a complex system, which means you have to make compromises. Add to that, you'll have a limited team working on it, so fixing / tweaking some features means some features are a higher priority than others. Add to that, someone might fix a problem around a certain unrelated feature, and that change due to other complexities in the system design, can now cause a new, unforseen bug in something else.   The whole thing is, as said, sometimes split systems can work as good, and if not better. Plus when there's no need to spend $4k on an all in one solution, to meet the needs of a $200 system, maybe don't just spout off things others have said / you've read. There's a lot of misinformation on the internet, including in translated service manuals, and data sheets. Going and doing, so that you know, is better than stating something you read. Stating something that has been read, is about as useful as an engineering graduate, as all they know is what they've read. And trust me, nearly every engineering graduate is useless in the real world. And add to that, if you don't know this stuff, and just have an opinion, maybe accept what people with experience are telling you as information, and don't keep reciting the exact same thing over and over in response.
    • How complicated is PID boost control? To me it really doesn't seem that difficult. I'm not disputing the core assertion (specialization can be better than general purpose solutions), I'm just saying we're 30+ years removed from the days when transistor budgets were in the thousands and we had to hem and haw about whether there's enough ECC DRAM or enough clock cycles or the interrupt handler can respond fast enough to handle another task. I really struggle to see how a Greddy Profec or an HKS EVC7 or whatever else is somehow a far superior solution to what you get in a Haltech Nexus/Elite ECU. I don't see OEMs spending time on dedicated boost control modules in any car I've ever touched. Is there value to separating out a motor controller or engine controller vs an infotainment module? Of course, those are two completely different tasks with highly divergent requirements. The reason why I cite data sheets, service manuals, etc is because as you have clearly suggested I don't know what I'm doing, can't learn how to do anything correctly, and have never actually done anything myself. So when I do offer advice to people I like to use sources that are not just based off of taking my word for it and can be independently verified by others so it's not just my misinterpretation of a primary source.
    • That's awesome, well done! Love all these older Datsun / Nissans so rare now
    • As I said, there's trade offs to jamming EVERYTHING in. Timing, resources etc, being the huge ones. Calling out the factory ECU has nothing to do with it, as it doesn't do any form of fancy boost control. It's all open loop boost control. You mention the Haltech Nexus, that's effectively two separate devices jammed into one box. What you quote about it, is proof for that. So now you've lost flexibility as a product too...   A product designed to do one thing really well, will always beat other products doing multiple things. Also, I wouldn't knock COTS stuff, you'd be surprised how many things are using it, that you're probably totally in love with As for the SpaceX comment that we're working directly with them, it's about the type of stuff we're doing. We're doing design work, and breaking world firsts. If you can't understand that I have real world hands on experience, including in very modern tech, and actually understand this stuff, then to avoid useless debates where you just won't accept fact and experience, from here on, it seems you'd be be happy I (and possibly anyone with knowledge really) not reply to your questions, or input, no matter how much help you could be given to help you, or let you learn. It seems you're happy reading your data sheets, factory service manuals, and only want people to reinforce your thoughts and points of view.
    • I don't really understand because clearly it's possible. The factory ECU is running on like a 4 MHz 16-bit processor. Modern GDI ECUs have like 200 MHz superscalar cores with floating point units too. The Haltech Nexus has two 240 MHz CPU cores. The Elite 2500 is a single 80 MHz core. Surely 20x the compute means adding some PID boost control logic isn't that complicated. I'm not saying clock speed is everything, but the requirements to add boost control to a port injection 6 cylinder ECU are really not that difficult. More I/O, more interrupt handlers, more working memory, etc isn't that crazy to figure out. SpaceX if anything shows just how far you can get arguably doing things the "wrong" way, ie x86 COTS running C++ on Linux. That is about as far away from the "correct" architecture as it gets for a real time system, but it works anyways.
