A quick update on the tune. On CRD's dyno the car made 260rwkw @16psi and 288rwkw @19psi. boost above 19psi didnt give significant gains, thus 19psi is the peak efficient at the moment.

that was achieved with no cams and stock internals. what would you do next to get to 300rwkw? mind you any further modifications are expensive i.e 1k for head gaskets(more boost) and 2k for cams.

let me explain a little better. obviously one would always want to make more power. im ready to take one extra step to achieve the magic 300rwkw. but its not like money is not an issue here otherwise i would be modifying a r34 gtr not a gtt.

so 3 options i can think of:

$1.5k for headgaskets to run more boost, but not sure if more boost would give me the extra 12rwkw as we already tried raising a few psi on the dyno and it didnt reciprocate.

$2k+ for cams. proven method but then the car will need a PFC retune and adding cost of labour it would be close to $3k in total which is a big ask for me at the moment.

an aftermarket intake plenum like this http://www.hypertune.net/ is around $2200 installed and would normally pick up 15rwkw, however i will need new intercooler pipes and also contemplate if i should do larger throttle body meanwhile.

any suggestions?

omg where do u get your prices from ..geez!

ok head gasket $300 tomei!

cams $1000 with cam gear comes together - tomei!

and the plenum u dont need a hyper tune one get a greddy one $1200.. also you will need injectors if your changing the plenum

u will definately need an oil cooler and radiator upgrade!

ok fuel up to you but if u want more power in the long run i suggest twin feed rail ( u dont want cylinder 6 leaning out! )

but if your going to stick too 300rwkw then just get cams with your current steup and u should be a happy chap!

Anyways - I think the question being asked here to the "experienced" NEO owners is not the way to go about it. None of us got our cars new from Nissan so all our engines were/are at different states anyway - luck of the draw!

I've been having major discussions about the NEOs with a few reputable people and it has been concluded that anything about 270-280 mark on the street is "impractical". Response is what you want from a street car; and the bigger your RWKW rating, the laggier your car will be = less responsive.

Set YOURSELF a goal; not what others tell you to aim for. Make sure you have the budget for it and then do it.

BTW; worrying about your engine blowing up on the dyno is normal - happens to everyone :worship:

and satanic- explain impractical pls ...and 300rwkw isnt laggy hey i got 300 with a 2835pro s and there not laggy at all!..hhhmmm and shonen i heard he got 300 with the 3037 thats not laggy ....hmm

didnt know this thread is back and live again. ok, all above prices are "first phone call" quotes from reputable workshops so im sure they will be cheaper after negotiation.

2k+ for cams includes some sort of porting job for the head, i remember they mentioned. At 288rwkw my td06-25g does feel laggy (full boost not until 4000rpm) this is one problem im trying to solve without having to change the turbo (cams being the obvious solution at a cost).

as mentioned on my previous posts my goal is 300rwkw. i know 288rwkw is enough for many people and it is "impractical" on the street, but i just want to chase 300rwkw out of the NEO then i will be content. :P

i also would like to make the turbo to hit full boost earlier, as you mentioned: response is what you want from a street car, so im trying to find that one "cost-effective" mod that can get me the extra 12rwkw whilst giving me better response.

u have to decide what you want more and go for that, big power, longer life, to spend less money

we cant decide that for you

For 300 rwkw I don't think it is necessary to decompress it (thick head gasket). So I would go for the Poncams, 260 degrees for a Neo. They gave us ~20 rwkw average power increase from 4,500 rpm to 7,500 rpm. The longer duration will also decrease the dynamic compression ratio, hence lessening the need for a thick head gasket. Plus the cams lessened the restrictions to airflow, so we made more power at lower boost, also further lessening the need for a thick head gasket. The lower boost/dynamic compression enabled us to advance the ignition noticeably for faster boost build and more response.

Cams were a win, win, win, win scenario.

who says u cant have 300rwkw and a engine that can last at that power level? no i have already spent a lot of money on my car to make 288rwkw. iwas simply just looking for one more mod to reach 300. i didnt think spending another $2k to get cams is a cost effective way to achieve the mere extra 10-15rwkw that i was looking for but Sydneykid just gave the solution to my question. so there you go, i can have 300rwkw with a engine that can last and that would give me improved response just by installing cams. this is the last mod for the car and i CAN have my cake and eat it!

Thank you Sydneykid, this is the one constructive recommendation I was looking for. Did not know these associated benefits with cams (lower dynamic compression ratio and etc.) but it seems to answer all of my questions. I will give cams a try and see if it does the magic on the NEO.

    • Hey everyone!!  I've noticed that whenever I do my oil changes, after putting 4L in, the oil level sits at the top mark in the dipstick. This is after letting the old oil drain for a very long time too! I've checked the oil level daily for the past few mornings.     • Sport. I didn’t rebleed it cause I just removed the slave and left connected.    I will change line and slave and see how it goes.  
    • Oh and how is the rattle when foot is on the clutch ?
    • Did you get the sport or track ? From what the documentation says the uniclutch has a small amount of movement to disengage.  So your story of tricky pedal setup seems common.    Hopefully you got it bled up too, as the bite point moving around is usually either plates wearing in or air in the line.     
    • There's always "MIG it up and grind it back".
