JustinP
I was just looking around the on the floor of my R34 and I noticed this little box? Any ideas on what exactly it is?! My research seems to indicate a turbo timer even though this does not work as far as I can tell. Also we got the remote in the last picture with the car and had no idea what it was for (car was straight from Japan). I guess it might be for remote starting of the car? Also I was sure all R34's came standard with an immobiliser security system but mine doesn't seem to have one, I wonder if it was disabled in order to get the remote starting to work? I have no idea, will ask some people who can read Japanese properly. Weird! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/151655-starbo/ Share on other sites
666DAN
Wow those are wicked large pics Not all the R34's have the factory system, my last one didn't but my silver one did. A bit hit and miss I think, you'd have a sticker on the rear quarter panel if it's got the factory alarm Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/151655-starbo/#findComment-2821567 Share on other sites
JustinP
Damn it - looks like I will need to invest in a proper immobiliser or alarm. I just want the standard factory key with buttons though, I have having the extra button fob things... I actually got the remote starting to work!!! I just had to flick the 3rd dip switch. Trouble is it keeps running the starter motor. In some of my reading on the unit (theres next to nothing in english on it) it seems there is an option that should fix this so it just gets it started then stops the starter. Will need some jap translated I think. Will be handy for warming the car up in the morning as I am always late for work and tend to drive it a bit harder than I should when its cold. Sumo
a remote car starter is a good way to have premature failure of your starter, Normal cheap arsed systems work off a timing circuit (hence engaged for a while after the car starts). They should also sense when the alternator is running so that they cant re-engage once the car is running. Unless you want bling, I wouldn't worry about it.
