GIVE ME YOUR HONEST OPINION

Ok i would like to hear everyones suggestions, this is what im looking for:

The car can be any make, honda, nissan etc etc.

Car cannot be more then $15,000 (the cheaper the better, because of stupid insurance).

Car needs to doo 0-100 under 7.0 secs

Car doesnt need to be turbo, but would prefer turbo.

Car cannot have more then 100,000km.

CAR MUST BE MANUAL.

OK GUYS SHOOT, try not to right much everyone cause i dont want to have to search to much through this post lol.

Eg. THis is good:

Car: Nissan Skyline R32 GTST

and tell me why you recommend that car in no more then around 50 words.

I know this seems like a bit of a game, and some people might be annoyed by this post, so you ppl dont have to post lol, only happy comments lol.

Thx Everyone in advance.

Mate if you can't afford comperhensive insurance then please do think it though first before buying a car because you are putting yourself and others at risk.

Nah its not so much that i cant afford it as i just dont feel like paying $2500 for a N/A r34. It just seems like a waste of money no matter how much i love the car, thats why i want something cheap, because 3 party covers the other car and just car covers $5,000 to your own car, second of all im a pretty safe driver i just like the whole turbo thing with the blow off valve, thats right im a wog lol. I know this reply is late as but im on holidays from uni so dont judge me lol.

Just read the fine print on the old justcars thing with the $5k hey. Once you pay your premium, and the excess then you get your $5k. But justcars keep your car if its recovered, and the rego on it. Sure you might have first option to buy it back, but my guess thats going to cost more than what justcars give you. Its not a good deal.

With the safe driver thing. About 80% of drivers reckon they are an above average driver, do the maths on that. I've never seen you drive so I cant comment either way. Just putting it out there most drivers think they are a whole lot better than they really are. That said a defencive driving course does nothing to reduce your justcars premium.

So I think maybe spend $10k (which will still get you something quite nice) and keep the rest for proper insurance. Maybe look at a s13 or something?

Pm Coming up some time soon

GTiR FTW!!!

Quick from stock, AWD, and looks better than a riceline :P (sorry guys, had to do it) SR20 easy to get good power figures out of, and parts are available for them.

OR

SW20 MR2. bout 12k for a decent one, with money left over for insurance (dont ever go without insurance) Turbo 2L, Mid Mounted, look damn sexy

either of those are good IMO

or if you got no cash you could always get an....................XF Falcon :D

A 32 GTS-T can be had for $6k - $8k these days, I know of a AWD 32 GTS-T going for $10k. Still leaves some cash for insurance.

After seeing a friend running around without insurance and then having someone t-bone him in a shopping centre and the dramas he has had trying to get them to pay and get his car back it isn't worth not having full comprehensive insurance.

If you want some go without the high premium then consider an aussie sold car. Imports attract a high premium price with most insurers.

For cheap thrills get a Gemini and whack a 2.6L engine out of a rodeo in it and turbo it..... wouldn't even be worth insuring either.

Oh im not saying im a good driver or anything, i just follow the road rules, thats all i meant i know everyone thinks they are great drivers lol. Yeah thats why i want something cheeper because then comrehensive might be cheeper and i might get that.

    • Hows your intake piping? Are you still running stock? Having in the stock AFM position would mean, if the BOV was shut/venting out, it'd create the almost stalling kind of effect right // "the rich pulse behaviour" due to MAF thinking air is flowing ? But this would be better than having the bov in the stock position + MAF on/just before cross over piping right?
    • Essentially, yes. Although I wouldn't put the AFM on the crossover pipe. I'd want to put it into what amounts to the correct size tube, which is more easily done in the intercooler pipework. I bought a mount tube for card stile AFM that replaces the stock AFM - although being a cheap AliExpress knockoff, it had not flange and I had to make and weld my own. But it is the same length and diameter as the stock RB AFM, goes on my airbox, etc etc. I don't have a sick enough rig to warrant anything different, and the swap will take 5 minutes (when I finally get around to it and the injectors & the dyno tune).
    • So to summarise, the best thing to do is to move recirc to between turbo and IC, and maf on the crossover pipe. Meaning I'd need a recirc flange, drill a hole in the piping on turbo outlet area. And drill hole on crossover to fit/weld maf sensor? Either that or put the MAF on the turbo inlet right?  Is an aftermarket recirc/blowoff valve recommended? Do currently have family in Japan so could probably bring something back with maybe a cheeky lil SuperAutobacs run?
    • Yep, so far most have said that it looks like corrosion on the wall from piston not moving. Which then has probably damaged the oil rings and caused those vertical marks. The longest the engine was still after the rebuild, was the winter of 2018 - 2019, plus the boat trip to Japan. When I shipped the car, it had normal gas in the tank but before that winter pause, it had E85 in tank.  In any case, even if either one of those was the cause, it happened close to 6 years ago and the car has been driven something like 30 000kms after the fact. Again, apart from the plugs and the dip stick, there is nothing in the way the car runs that would indicate what has been going on in the engine. I am going to consult a shop and ask their opinion, what would be the best approach. I do have some access to a garage I could use to diagnose further myself, but time is very restrictive. Might end up buying another engine that could be used while this one is being remedied. Without pulling the head, it will be impossible to find out if it needs another bore, but here's to hoping a hone would suffice.  Goddamnit, I would really have preferred this not happening.
    • Boot is going to be replaced eventually. I just wire brushed what I could and rust converted. Then painted in rust kill primer. the spoiler also got repainted and plugs replaced on the ends. The under side of the bonnet is going to be black also, currently white. But red on the top side, same colour code as the silo to begin.
