If they have an accident and their lights are hit the tape holds the pieces of headlight together.

yep that's the theory. over here people generally cover the whole thing with clear contact so most people probably dont notice it's there at all. the japanese effort with just a thin piece of electrical tape probably wouldn't do bugger all, but they do it anyway...

yes there were a few stageas out. there was even one drifting!!

I will upload some more pics later on, so for now I'd suggest go back to page 1 and have another look. lol. I always notice something new.

I ate fugu last night for the first time. I have to say it was very, very tasty. and I didn't die at all which was a plus.

I'm glad everyone enjoys the pics as I enjoy sharing my experiences in japan. I always try and do something new or different.

nick, I will try and dig out some pics of that stagea later on. I have gigs and gigs of pics. :(

Awesome, thanks for that Richard! :O:P

And I'm guessing fugu = puffer fish? (Would be kinda unusual if you'd still managed to post replies and images after you'd died from eating the fugu... :):O:D )

haha, i actually thought of you troy when I saw that car, so I went over and took some pics and had a chat to the owner. he was nice, but a bit bemused as to wtf I was doing talking to him when all the saurus cars where ---> that ways.

better clear your schedule for next year big fella as I may need someone to hold my hair back whilst driving the porcelain limo and to hold my umbrella whilst taking pics on the togue. >_< plus someone has to look after the dozens of young ladies that don't meet beer barons 12 point ISO 9002 perfection standard.

yep, fugu is the poison blow fish (or puffer fish) very tasty indeed. I just had one type: fugu karage (deep fried fugu) and it was good. just the smallest bit of numb lip, but I was a bit pissed to hard to tell really.

tomorrow night I'm heading out to yokohama to have dinner with one of the drifters I met at Fuji. He has told me his father owns a 'full tuned' R34 GTR and is keen to take me out in it being a fellow GTR owner and all. it certainly sounds promising.

ok, tonight I'm heading to my favourite ramen place to dinner, then a few bars, then some clubbing. >_<

a few pics to come before I head out.

yeah, fugu karage was tasty. a few bones though which you have to watch out for!

ok.

here is what 1 hours shopping looks like:

Nice choice of goodies, wish I'd had a chance (and the money - but that's the story of my life) to get you to grab some Defi BF gauges for me...

Oh, and WTF are you doing ironing your laptop - you'll void the warranty, dude! >_< >_<

oo, I forgot to mention 1 other thing.

The day I went to fuji I was lying in bed awake at around 3am when all of a sudden the room started shaking, and shit fell off the table. As I was right on the edge of the bed I even had to put one arm on the floor to steady myself. yep, my first decent japanese earthquake! 5.7!!! It was a fair way out of tokyo, but being on the 12th floor (and a brand new building with soft suspension) meant the thing shook like you wouldn't believe. It was quite scary, and exciting at the same time. got to love japan.

lol! yes. It hasn't been the same since! It's a nice lappy too. carbon fibre body. 1.1kg weight!

actually I may be able to help out with the defis in the near future as I want to switch from my Defi BFs (boost, oil press, oil temp) to some defi link meters. so I was going to just swap the guage faces and sell the BFs with the new sensors, mounts, cups etc that come with the defi links I'm buying. we can talk when i'm back!

Who'd you get your apartment through? I'm currently looking at one through a couple of agencies and would be interested to know more about who you went with, where you stayed, how much etc... if you don't mind sharing that is.

    • It says 300ZX, does that make it an Aus delivered car? Funny how back in the day I just couldn't care less about Z32's and these days I am just in love with them. Back when Nissan was into pushing the envelope. 🤣
    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
    • Do you have some data like fuel pressure? It's really hard to say if you're still fighting a fuel system issue at this point. Could be something weird like the FPCM dipping out.
    • Yeah in that case, pulling the dent out. Event a very slight dent can create a lot of work filler-wise and there is a strong chance the panel won't be the factory shape when you are done (as the dent will result in a new high point created somewhere, then everything is brought up to that new high point... but the panel shouldn't be that high if that makes sense).  So you've filled and primed the panel and it is flat, why would you go back and remove the primer and add more filler?
    • Something else I have been faffing with while the car was off the road is making the AC work. Assuming the car isn't at a thermal limit the idea of having AC while waiting in line to go on track sounds delightful. I have actually been lugging around the weight of the entire system since 2018 when the RB25NEO went in without it working at all.  The main reason was in the first few events before I got around to re-gassing it the rubber hose that runs under the manifold had the factory heat wrap/sleeve fail resulting in this: ~2 years ago I purchased a complete used R32 AC line set but when I finally went to install it the line i needed was different where the expansion section is I found a local place that was able to replace the rubber section and re-crimp. They also added some modern heat sleeve to the hose Tight fit but fingers crossed this is the last physical piece of the puzzle needed
