hey guys,

i realise that there are topics on this but theyre all not quite exact.

what im asking is, my 95 R33 series one n/a, when i fill it up, i usually only get say about 350 kms, i dont really thrash the motor, just normal driving, and the motor is completely stock.

is this normal or sumthings up?

any suggestions on increasing my fuel eco? and how much so i can budget $$$.

Thanks. :)

by the way, how many litres my skyline? ive always wondered.

The r33 fuel gauge is notorious for being inaccurate. you should do the fill up and mileage calculation to determine your actual fuel consumption / 100km. then work from there.

if you havent done a major service for a long time. it would pay to do so.

I'm guessing RB25's (your engine) have oxygen sensors in exhaust the same as older RB's

My car is using a lot of fuel at the moment due to a choked up catalytic convertor, which has caused the

O2 sensor to play up..... they can just wear out anyway. Apparently common for them to go in hotter weather.

If the ECU is not getting accurate readings..... it will over fuel so as not to run too lean and damage engine.

Check/get checked your O2 sensor..... take it to a mechanic and get them to do tune and check for stuffed sensors..... could just need a good tune up.

def the 02 sensor.

just pull it off. and hold the washer on the end.... than shake it with your hand.... if you can feel and here the a lil thing inside it rattling around... its stuffed.

so get a new one. will make the biggest diff ever dude. prob make your car go better to.

cost.... Around 80-100bucks

Wow 350 to a full tank... i get around 400 and thats with mods too... this is only when my foot feels like a feather for a week changing gears at 3-4k... Do alot of people get around 400 or is it usually 300-350?

haven't had a look, but how hard is it to get the o2 sensor out?

you just un clip it from the main wire that runs to the ECU. the i think its a 12mm spanner. to un screw it. its located on the zorst manifold. easy to find. it has 3 wires coming out the back of it.

"get about 430..on a 93 r33 GTST..

im wondering though, do the r33s have an empty light cos ive never gone that low before"

Yes R33s have an empty light. But im told that it comes on once the needle gets BELOW the empty line. Im pretty sure that R33s have a 22L reserve, so when you look at your fuel gauge and it says empty, youve only used 2/3 of a tank. Well thats the case with mine anyway

I remember with the 32's when you hit the empty light you have left ~10litres.

The old Rb20DET running 1bar used to average470km's per tank and that was giving it a bit also.

The RB30DET has dropped a touch to ~450km's per tank giving it a bit also.

    • I like it when the counter chick leads you out the back into the racks and says "have a grub around in here and see if you can find what you need. I'll be back in a few minutes. Just left me in front of a massive motorised shelving system and 2-3 million fasteners, so I could find a peculiar SS shoulder bolt with cap head. Gotta love country towns.
    • I used this https://osgiken.com.au/product/os-giken-os-250r-lsd-gear-oil-80w250-1-litre/   shut my nismo 1.5 pro up by heaps…. Not silent though. Gives the car character and personality. It ain’t a carolla. If you want silent, put a quaife in it.
    • It's about the same time for me from Bunnings, or the Fasteners. My big push away from takeaway food, and gluten in general keeps me away from the Bunnings Snags too! Weather up here, I've been out for two walks today in the beautiful sunshine. Had a few little drizzles, and some wind, that honestly, a tin of beans and I could compete on how harsh she blows Thankfully, being this bit inland, we're not getting anything much really. Will probably pick up a bit more when/if Cyclone Alfie decides to come ashore. A few areas in the GC though, and south into NSW are really getting smashed though! Right now, I'm just annoyed Alfie hasn't hit, as I'm not allowed to crack into the BBQ foods like the bacon and eggs until the Cyclone hits "In case we lose power"...
    • I love fastener joints, the price difference between them and joints like Bunnings or Super Cheap is amazing, and they either have exactly what you want, or they can get it to quick They have even given me some for free when I only needed a couple of specific size In saying this, I have paid premium for fasteners from Bunnings if they have the sizes I need, but only for convenience really, as my local is only 10 minutes away, the Sushi joint near them is also a consideration  How's the weather Matt? Stay safe mate
    • Wideband is worth setting up if only for tuning purposes. I would not mess with the ignition system unless there's a misfire. HKS crank trigger is popular out here for the relatively easily sourced Denso crank sensor, not a bad idea to install as well regardless of power level on a standalone. Boost leak test is worth thinking about. Oil pressure sensor tied to a fuel cut isn't a bad idea either. Getting the tune figured out is a good idea. Without putting eyes on it and getting under it there's no way for us to tell you exactly what it needs but most likely you're down to the last 10% that will make a big, big difference in how happy you are with the car.
