just wanted to know if any of you had the same problem as me going through roadworthy,

They tried to do me for the "FACTORY DARK GLASS TINT". first up they didnt even know it was dark glass and wanted me to remove the tint, so i took my key out and gave it a little rub and showed them how easy it would be to remove it (sarcasm) lol...... then they wasted my time for two days telling me i had to replace the windows. eventually i got hold of the RTA and they faxed me the rules on factory Dark glass.

There is no tinted film fitted

The darker glass is behind the driver

The darker glass must have the marking "ECE R-43/00" and bear the symbol "V"

There are two external mirrors fitted.

now my numbers dont quite match up but that didnt bother the machanic tomuch, apparently the cops have imported a bunch of patrol cars with the same dark glass tint, and thus the reason for changing the rules.

if you guys have any hassles witch i doubt you will give us a PM and i will fax u the piece of paper i have.

Mine doesn't have any dark glass

Its all this greenish "UV Cut" kind of tint / film (?)glass all the way around.

I am kind of surprised that this would be a problem though, what about all the vans etc getting around with NO side windows etc at all and all the taxi's etc getting about with the advertising film covering the back windows? Wouldn't this be covered by the same set of rules?

I think you will find when a car is classified as commercial instead of private you are legally allowed to black out all windows behind the driver 100% ... This is why you see the vans windows all painted over or boarded up :)

Their mistake is thinking that it is a "modification" which it is not. The car was complied like that and to be complied the car must meet ADR's (pretty much), if a car meets ADR's it should be roadworthy, see where I am going here? It passes, it has to, you just need to prove it... Which you have nicely, just a shame it is such a pain. People are often painful just because they can be.

its a bit like the vented bonnet issues... evo's are imported and complied with their vented bonnets, but technically they could get a yellow sticker once it leaves the pits are being registered, as it has a vent that would allow liquids to cover the windscreen in the event of a split hose, etc...

i doubt many of you would even get looked at twice by police though, let alone them have enough reason to give you a yellow sticker for factory glass..

yeah its not really about getting a yellow sticker though its more about trying to get it through road worthy if you are registering for the first time or registering in a new state.
