dezz
ah you mean the stripes on the GT's etc....people know them as factory items....i'm sure they do attract more attention than an FPV without em, but a skyline with 2 fast 2 furious style decals all over it will attract more unwanted attention imo Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/151948-enthusiast-not-hoon/page/3/#findComment-2830524 Share on other sites

I think you are drawing a long bow to say that the constabulatory hassle import drivers to protect Australian car manufacturers. More probably they don't like imports for more pedestrian reasons. Whether we like it or not a not insubstantial percentage of import & even Skyline drivers are tools & probably deserve every bit of targetting they get. **JaR**
it depends how you drive as well... if you drive like a hero in traffic where everyone can see you... it gives the general public a vague impression as to thats what all people who drive cars like that are like. Coupe-This
if people are so concerned with trying to convey a good imagine about a car club, dont contact the media, since when have u seen a story on t/t portraying only good, there is always an evil. The police have had operation drag where they have taken police cars down the quarter. Why dont we try and contact the police and take them to a deca day, to see pictures of the club comittee/president along side. Also seeing a police car sliding out sideways on the skidpan would be a hell of a site. This could be seen as a good image. You can only try, expect alot of closed doors though. Exactly as Mark said. I never said you won't get attention, but big farking decals etc is like asking for more Also, do you honestly think cops go out there on a mission to protect Autralian car manufacturers? Because they don't.... The police have had operation drag where they have taken police cars down the quarter. The operation drag right cars are purpose built drag cars with some pretty police stickers and lights.... dezz
When I was there they were running 12's. psi
the biggest problem in my area is that the 'hoons' tear up the neighbourhood in crappy old VN's and EB's. dungers with rust and bald tyres and shot suspension! Not many of the 'hoons' are import boys. sure they give it a thrashing here and there, but generally most of them are not too bad. There seems to be a very large, bad ora around performance cars and hoons from the public. in an effort to make my community better, I run skid days at the local skid pan (i know most of you cant get to em), the very very sad thing is, most of the 'hoons' don't want to spend money and do it legally! We teach a variety of cool things like power sliding and throttle oversteering, yet the hoons wont come.. instead we find the older performance nutters like tradesman, IT and businessman come! I see the problem like this.. and its two fold. 1. There are few places that cater to these sorts or activities(and most of them are spread out). If area's were allocated to this sort of driving, there would be a decrease of it on the streets. A friday nite burnout comp! heck i would love to run 1.. if only the council would permit!! 2. Education! here lies the biggest key in my opinion. Teach the hoons about the basics. teach them that they actually can't drive from the back seat.. teach them that one day they are gonna have kids doin stuff like this around their streets.. teach them that u cant brake the laws of physics and live! any thoughts.. Coupe-This
you will also find alot of them do it illegally, simply because it is illegal. I used to go shred tyres and do some doughnuts ... although always late at night in industrial areas where it was me and a few friends, and they were all nowhere near the cars things like this have always happened, as time goes on it will just get harder and harder. And its impossible to stereo type any group. You will find most people with highly modified anything will not thrash the crap out of their car on the st, nor have anything to prove at lights, this be in import/ford/holden scene, or anything. its more those retards with an exhaust and thats it that think they have the best car ever ... like always, the only way to change things, is to immediatly take licences off these ppl, or make it impossible for them to drive anything but a 4 cylnder, fines for the drivers and the dealers/people that sell the cars to them otherwise. Plus far better driver education. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/151948-enthusiast-not-hoon/page/3/#findComment-2831996 Share on other sites
