Hi all

As I was driving back from work (St Kilda Road) at 5.30pm, as the traffic lights at the corner of Chapel St and High St were malfunction. There were two police officers directing traffic, just as one of the officer wave me through, he pulled out a device and took some photos of my car.

Hence, my question is that should I start saving up for an EPA? Or I’m just paranoid?

Can gdogzgtr (Graeme) or anyone shed some light on this issue?

Thanks in Advance

Calvin

Polices are on a mission,

To give performance car drivers as much hassle as possible, so you spread the words out to your mate, to your other mate's mates...............so that you guys will give them a break.

A break from criticism from the public, from their big boss, from the media....

Apart from that, i don't think they want to target any particular car's manufacture. You just happened to be a random target.

the TMU took photos of my engine, undercarrage, front bar, plates, rear window and interior. I think it was a HPI photoshoot  haha, im still waiting for the epa letter which im dredding.

last canary i copd i got destroyed, catch can and locked diff. also a high powered vehicle fine and a threat about my back window and stickers. :) the police dislike me in mill park i guess.

I think he will have to send you a defect notice first...but I thought they will pull you over and have a chat first?

I'm guessing he like your car more than anything...(his mission is to direct traffic at this point, so shouldn't be any problems)

but the Traffic Managment Unit are the blokes to unleash on the epa's and canaries, as they deem vehicles unroadworthy because they think so. I got done by this one cop who wasnt tmu, 2 other cars came and then they gave me the canary, after 2 hours.

EPA for sure dude. Same thing happened to me last month, pulled me up, took a photo then received an EPA by mail a couple of weeks later. Sorry say mate, guaranteed!

serious? they can do it just like that? that means they can epa any sports car.......

does it say why you have to go ?? like wat they rekon your car has ?? or do they just say you have to go ?

pretty much, yes, unless its bone stock with nothing they disagree on. which i think alot of cops will have their knickers in a knot and give you one anyway.

The cop pointed to my 32 gtr cooler i sprayed black along with the piping and cross over pipe and he said "standard" i go yeah "standard nissan mate" hese like "all good"

pffft

Do you have a FMIC?

Loud exhaust?

If not, then i wouldnt worry, if you do. Then it was taken so they can report/fill out the paperwork at a later stage for the EPA report.

You should be paranoid, i mean... if you drive a modded car, the Police are well within thier right to do what they have done, even if they should be paying attention to the duty at hand

i got pulled over on Saturday and the cop was taking shots of my exhaust, engine bay including close up shots of the import plate, VIN number, manufacturing plaque etc. He didnt say anything bout EPA but i believe a notice from EPA will be coming in the mail.

I read somewhere that there was some law that if you live XX km away from that mcleod place then they can't send you there....is that true or do you just have to go somewhere else for your EPA?

I live in Dandy north and i still got sent there to do emissions test

i run a straight pipe and no ressies or anything jus a highflow cat, the copper goes, running a hollow cat? i go na highflow, hese like thats alright then, ur exhaust is fine, we dont like gutted cats, i go neither do i :)

dont really think he knew much

i got pulled over in nov the officer spent an hour under my bonnet and i got my epa letter about 2 weeks ago... yay for quick processing .... hate to say it but id be tipping you will get a letter..... I also had photo's taken of my car too....

    • Hi guys, planning to get 18x9 +25 in fronts and 18x10 +25 in rears been reading the whole thread and cant really find anything   Anyone know if these will fit a r34 gtt with no scrubbing or guard work needed?
    • They usually get made by hand as part of any such swap.
    • Was planning on getting an R35 MAF and the adapter, should this be okay? Also any idea where I could get my hands on an intake pipe?
    • I mean yes, if you're starting from scratch on an unknown engine yes you don't need to be doing all kinds of math in the background but if you're doing relatively minor changes like AFM + injectors + boost up with some aftermarket turbos it takes quite a bit of math if you want to do something like maintain OEM fuel + timing tables but compressed and then a bit more load scale up top. I think I've spent too much time working on big engineering nightmares though so I'm a big fan of trying to constrain the scope of whatever work I'm doing as much as possible and trying to get it right before moving on. For example, a local owner just did the usual E85 + single turbo conversion to his R32 GTR and nearly burned his car to the ground doing some spirited driving up the local mountains. Turbine is unshielded and too close to the hood insulation. It's tough to balance "just get the project done" and "seemingly small details can cause massive setbacks I'm not willing to deal with".
    • No idea about Neil's steering wheel, but I have the same behaviour in the Stagea. I doubt it has ever been messed with so might be normal. Indicating to turn right at a roundabout and correcting even a little bit to the left to go around will cancel the indicator. Never considered it an issue other than it being a bit odd.
