The face plate as in.... not the TV itself.. that came totally intact.

But the plate that will go around the actual unit that will hide the gap between the dash and the unit itself. if ya get what I mean?

(I got it for the price I did because it was the working sample at JB, and the last one there. A small price to pay for over 50% off!)

I don't think they come with one man... just got the last one in the chatswood jb and it didn't come with one either... so either they don't come with one or jb has f*%d us both over...

I should get you to come do my bargaining for me next time... i only managed to get them down to $845... you've done extrememly well...

Let me know what your running off it and how it performs... need some decent advice on speakers and amp...

I'm not really an expert in car audio.. but, my mate and I went down to JB and had a gander. I ended leaving with:

JL Splits (front)

Alpine mono-block amp

12" pioneer sub w/ box (looking into making custom box - eventually)

Wiring kit

and the JVC double din unit.

All for around $1600, initially it was $1800.

A few people have criticised me for not staying with the one brand, but in the end they all complimented each other and works well.

Both budget and performance came into play (in that particular order), and so far I'm pretty stoked at the quality sound that's coming out.

The rear speakers were replaced with some older JL's, nothing fancy. So I'm assuming with some better speakers at the rear that, compliment the setup, it should be pretty sweeeet!

I guess its not THAT bad.. it's not the grand canyon or anything, but in the installation guide that I downloaded (it didn't come with one, or the instructions, but readily available on the internet), it pointed out that a plate should be included for the installation in NISSAN cars.

Now I'm just interested in what difference it could make!

What about from a plastics supplier? They do cash sales to the public normally. Do you cut it with a jigsaw and clean up the edges with a bit of filing?

possibly. I use a knife and score it. jigsaw will leave a molten mess on the edges. I usually do not need to file it. if I do I use a deburring tool.

I have never seen them with one. I tend to make them as needed. how gappy is it?

Chris, you say you make these? Mine is a little gappy too... particularly at the bottom where it must be close to 5mm give or take...

If I wanted you to make me one them what would it cost and what is the best way to do it if I am in Sydney and you are up north? Can you do it if i give you a few photos or is it a bit of a precision job? How do you make the thing stay there? Some type of clip...??

show me a pic of yours assenbled. I may be able to make a suggestion or two.

ok. tat face drops out so what ever is made will have to go on the unit. thing being I CANNOT make something like that fit perfectly from an image. wasn't sure what you had. same problem exists with a alpine version. really need the car in front of me to make it fit neatly.

yeah no problem... thought that might be the case anyway... i will get in contact with JVC because as STAR33 pointed out, the list of included components says there should be a faceplate included... cheers chris

yeah I've looked on ebay and all that, but couldn't find anything.

On the net I could find installation kits, but they're in America and it comes with soo much more than we need.

I'll try get in contact with JVC. I'll give them a little 'fist to face' payments.. hahah.. nah.

Perhaps they offer some sort of replacements?
