As for the sump baffle; from what i'm told its an engine out exercise best left for a rebuild occasion. When I brought that idea up last year the consensus was run my RB with an extra litre or so of oil..I use redline just incase anyway.

However dyno figures can give an indication of when the turbos come on boost which is what I'm interested in
I'm not even sure that you can do that. I get full boost (1.1 bar) in my car at around 3800 on the higher 3 gears but don't forget I have a 34 engine and very healthy one as well.

Sory to hear all your misfortunes.. Have you had a full check up on your engine? ( the one the turbo let go ) If not, if I was you I would do a full compression test and a leakdown before doing any mods to it .

These engines have a bad habit of sucking turbo ceramic dust back in them. When it happened to me a few years back no-one believed me but its happened to a few people here and now there are a lot more believers...

This is what could have happened to yours ( but i hope not). This is extreme as you can see the 3 pistons ( rear turbo let go so rear 3) are totally stuffed , the bore was the same and it was embebbed in the cyl head as well. The effected 3 cyls had very low compression( around 50-90) the other 3 had normal comp but were still effected ( very fine marks though).

Have you had a full check up on your engine? ( the one the turbo let go ) If not, if I was you I would do a full compression test and a leakdown before doing any mods to it.

I've had a leakdown test performed. I can't remember the exact results off hand but IIRC there was 5% variance between all 6 cylinders ie 5% difference between highest to lowest figures. I'll post the exact results when I grab the sheet. Ugly photos you have there. That must have hurt (both the car and your wallet).

the grey GTR has a blown turbo (hense the upgrade),

I would be having the motor inspected, if a turbo has let go, then its possible there is some motor damage.

Also, you do know you really dont "need" the sump baffles ye?

The whole hype surrounding the need is pretty much that, hype.

Hardly any GTR's here in Melb run anything other than a stock sump well into the 300rwkw range, all circuit raced/motorkhana etc etc.

It did hurt because someone else was driving the car so I didnt even get the pleasure of blowing it up myself.

I only got the pain of rebuilding it, I had to change everything .

yeh thats why no longer let others drive my car now,read it couple times now and thought not worth..even tho id have to fix anyways..

It was a leakdown test. From memory the best figure was 7% and the worst was 12%.

A quick question: Are the Sard 700cc injectors a direct fit (as I believe) or do they need injector collars? http://www.nengun.com/sard/injectors

Yes , direct and the plugs fit, unlike the 800ccs, they can be a little tight in to the fuel rail but a little rubber grease makes them go in nice.

I would use new O rings and new collars but I use the old spacers if they look OK.

A slightly thinner o'ring does the trick nicely...don't forget to give them a light spray with silicone during assembly.

    • That is correct. I'm using a modified ABS ring and a ZF speed sensor on my rear diff for speed input. I'm running a Haltech ecu. 
    • Been busy with the newborn. We originally thought we were going to go for a third, but we're good with two lol. He's starting to actually sleep now so I've had some energy to work on the car. It's been parked away in the garage since late November due to winter.  I went ahead and redid all my head oil drains. I originally had my front and rear head drain going into the same pipe but have since split them up. I also added an Ethanol content sensor to get ready to run E85 this summer. Tossed it on my return line. Sensor sits nicely under my intake manifold.    I also have a lot of parts that came in for my rear end. I'll be swapping over to a 3.3 final drive and doing the GK teck anti squat mod. While the rear subframe is off, I'll also change every bushing. We're planning on buying another house soon with the condition that I get at a minimum a 2 door garage, so I'll wait to have more room for this. Now onto the strange things that recently happened... After changing the lower rad hose (It had been sitting in my cabinet for well over a year and was the last hose I had to replace), I let the car idle in the garage to bleed my coolant. After running for a few minutes, it started missing. Got much worst within a minute or two and then stalled and would not restart. My crank sensor decided to crap itself. No damage, no explanation, just died. I went ahead and replaced it with another ZF sensor but the heavier duty stainless model with a shield. Tossed that in and started right up. Has anyone else seen this? I hate when things fail without cause. Luckily this was a blessing in disguise... This lead me to recheck my timing. It seems I may have had a beer or two the last time I had set my TDC angle as I was off exactly 5 degrees... I miscounted a line haha. I was running 5 degrees less then commanded. It's a little embarrassing but helps explain why my dyno operator seemed to think I should be making more then 478rwkws.        
    • Sharing results from recent Liberty Walk R35 GTR, since they are still considered as somesort of a V36 Skyline. We do them turbos too. This are high flowed SS-1 models with ball bearing conversion done.  Car have managed to pull 485awkws @ 20Psi so far pushing limitations of factory built engine. The build list for R35 GTR enthusiasts as follow : HyperGear high flowed stock turbos in SS1 (G25-660 specs) Custom titanium intake pipes. Vspec performance titanium front pipes. Vspec performance 4" titanium exhaust. Upgrade fuel pumps. 1200cc injectors. Ignition coilpacks Hks intake plenum. Hks intercooler piping. Greddy intercooler. Greddy bovs. Top-secret coolant reservoir. Emtron ecu. Straight E85. Built gear box.
