Dont know if anyone here just saw ten news, but it showed an 18 year old man, who went into court for offences such as driving without a supervising driver (he was on his learners).

The police are trying to get his car permanently impounded.

He also led police through a high speed chase a few months ago.

He was going 120kph through residential streets, with police eventually calling off the chase when it got to speeds of over 160kph.

His car was a black (or was it midnight purple) R33 Gts-t with the plates MRGTST

If you're on this forum, i hope you car gets impounded, maybe that will teach you to be a d!ckhead on public roads.

Its c@nts like you that give the whole scene a bad name.

Hope this doesn't effect and liners out there, even though it probably will.

That's all i have to say.

don't mean to sound like an ass...

but this is getting too annoying, everytime someone does something illegal on public roads and gets cought etc its always "you moron thanks for making the rest of us look bad etc etc etc etc"

he got cought and he's obviously paying for it so just get over it.

it's nothing new it's always been like this why does it surprise you?

behave, do your part and stop bitching about what others do.

sheeeesh

again, don't mean to sound rude...

Yeah I saw that on 7 news a minute ago. No matter what anyone says you cant justify being caught 7 times in 16 days for offences on your L's unless you are a total di(khead. So thanks Mark Russel for bringing more heat to out scene.

On a positive note i'm currently looking for a black 33 so I'll keep my eyes peeled for it at the police auctions!

Yeah saw it just then as well. I agree that its completely stupid what he did, but really who really cares anymore about having people look down on skylines now. Seriously between noble park and hoons and skylines and everything else whats the point of having a winge about it anymore ^^^!

Own a skyline, drive it how you like, be prepared to get caught and accept punishment. Simple as that.

Yeah look its all blah blah blah. No point in complaining. People will make up their own minds about Skyline drivers and looks like many already have.

Convince one person otherwise, fine, but people as a collective are stupid and naive and will have their minds made up for them, i.e by the media. *cough* ACA etc

Unfortunately anything we say falls on deaf ears.

agreed. cops dont hear about it and go "ok things are now worse for skyline drivers"

f**k for years and years commodore drivers f**ked around on the roads and cops wouldnt go "be on the look out for commodore drivers"

Like the others said, the majority of liner's are mature & respect the roads, safety and the laws for good reason.

Everyone knows what can happen when abusing this.

I've cruised with the QLD fraternity recently and all were well behaved and drove sensibly.

When parked we saw 2 180's racing a 33 off the lights and someone could have been hurt in the process.

They're idots, most aren't.

The powers that be (ok, maybe with the exception of one in Melb) soon work out who to hassle and who to let be.

Just be good and enjoy/appreciate your rides, coz one day you'll have kids & drive a boring family car!

this is gonna bring a lot of unwanted attention to u skyline drivers and the import scene in general

That is bullocks

What a beautiful R33 though.. If i was him right now, id hide the car somewhere good and claim it as a stolen!

    • I've got the rear ones, they're certainly beefy. I need to take them to my driveshaft guru to check over, he's very fussy about the quality of components so I'll let you know if they are made of cheese by a blind man.   Are you in Australia? A mate just had a set of EN26 shafts made for his K20 Lotus by our fabricator which were quite cheap (compared to Driveshaft Shop) so if you can procure the CV's and draw what you need he'd make them for ~$800 for the pair.
    • Had I known the diff between R32 and R33 suspension I would have R33 suspension. That ship has sailed so I'm doing my best to replicate a drop spindle without spending $4k on a Billet one.
    • OEM suspension starts to bind as soon as the car gets away from stock height. I locked in the caster and camber before cutting off the kingpin. I then let the upright down in a natural (unbound) state before re-attaching it. Now it moves freely in bump and droop relative to the new ride height. My plan is to add GKTech arms before the car is finished so I can dial camber and caster further. It will be fine. This isn't rocket science. Caster looks good, camber is good, upper arm doesn't cause crazy gain and it is now closer to the stock angle and bump steer checks out. Send it.
    • Pay careful attention to the kinematics of that upper arm. The bloody things don't work properly even on a normal stock height R32. Nissan really screwed the pooch on that one. The fixes have included changing the hole locations on the bracket to change the angle of the inner pivot (which was fairly successful but usually makes it impossible to install or remove the arm without unbolting the bracket from the tower, which sucks) and various swivelling upper arm designs. ALL the swivelling upper arm designs that look like a capital I (with serifs) suck. All of them. Some of them are in fact terribly unsafe. Even the best one of them (the old UAS design) shat itself in short order on my car. The only upper arm that works as advertised and is pretty safe is the GKTech one. But it is high maintenance on a street car. I'm guessing that a 600HP car as (stupidly, IMO) low as you are going is not going to be a regular driver. So the maintenance issues on suspension parts are probably not going to be a problem. But you really must make sure that however your fairly drastically modded suspension ends up, that the upper arms swing through an arc that wants to keep the inner and outer bolts parallel. If the outer end travels through an arc that makes that end's bolt want to skew away from parallel with the inner bolt, you will build up enormous binding and compressing forces in the bushes, chew them out and hate life. The suspension compliance can actually be dominated by the bush binding, not the spring rate! It may be the case that even something like the GKTech arm won't work if your suspension kinematics become too weird, courtesy of all the cut and shut going on. Although you at least say there's no binding now, so maybe you're OK. Seeing as you're in the build phase, you could consider using R33/4 type upper arms (either that actual arm, OEM or aftermarket) or any similar wishbone designed to suit your available space, so alleviate the silliness of the R32 design. Then you can locate your inner pivots to provide the correct kinematics (camber gain on compression, etc).
    • The frontend wouldn't go low enough because the coilover was max low and the upper control arm would collapse into itself and potentially bottom out in the strut tower. I made a brace and cut off the kingpin and then moved the upright down 1.25" and welded. i still have to finish but this gives an idea. Now I can have a normal 3.25" of shock travel and things aren't binding. I'm also dropping the lower arm and tie rod 1.25".
