That's either the best RWD 'street tyre' 60ft I've ever heard of, or it was on slicks? In which case it won't count in the HPI drag list :O

Don't worry about the RT Matt. Doesn't effect the ET/TS.

Matt will confirm I'm sure but I was chatting with Mick (Tilbrook's/ ex Subzero) who drove the car to its 11.3 @ 122+ & it was running slicks for that pass.

Regardless of the above that mph is awesome. I'm sure Matt will pull respectable times on road rubber (NT555R's Matt - don't bother with anything less!) Roll on the 31st :O

Yeah it was with slicks, Ill be saving for some Nittos. does anyone know what type of life you get out of them. It also looks like ill be needing to run 540s all the time. It got a 13 with bridgestone S02's still spinning at half track

Matt,

Re NT555R's you're looking at ~$400 to 450 for 275/40/17, or a tad less for 245/50/16. I've been given a contact for Nittos if you're interested.

Have a read here mate - http://www.nittotire.com/mainframe.asp

Cheers Matt, I still feel really bad I know how much you were trying to get into the top 10 of the hpi & I may get there b4 you if I can get the traction sorted. It will be great if we both can do it on the 31st with everyone there:)

No prob's dude.

Hell mate don't feel bad! I'm stoked we've (SA Skyline crew) got another seriously quick car in the ranks. Your new beast!

Getting traction sorted is the hard part that's for sure. With the grunt your hybrid has you should nail a 12 even with a poor launch (providing it doesn't spin @ 1/2 track). Mind you Matty Lowth ran 13.1 @ 119 on his first pass (with ~320rwkw).

With a bit of luck (& some practice) I'm hoping we'll both nail some 12sec passes on the 31st. Maybe even a high 11 for you? As long as our faces look like this - :) - at the end of the day I'll be satisfied.

I guess I look at it like this, the longer it takes & the harder it is to achieve something, the sweeter it is when you do.

Well siad Matt, remember you have done the hard work yourself were I have bought the car like it is.

:D Yeah she was near stock as a rock when I got her ~3yrs ago. Sometimes the journey is 1/2 the fun. Sometimes!

Nothing wrong with buying a car that someone else has already done a large % of the work for you. Mid/high 20's wouldn't buy an average 32 & bits need to achieve 11.3 @ 122+mph that's for sure. Nice buy Matt! Looking foward to see her in action mate :(

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
