Whos Going To Or Been To Winton Fun Day?

Recommended Posts

From my experience it is a great way to get into motorsport, its great to have a decent amout of time out there to get a feel, unlike a sprint day which is usually at most 5 flying laps, just dont cook you car because you have so long out there. keep an eye on all your fluids too. its also great for practicing passing, but can be frustrating being stuck behind cars with 'eleventy' billion hp but cant corner at all... once you have done a fun day or 2, you have to move onto sprint days!

Are you comin mate?

Yeah belsil thats i exactly what i had in mind...hit a few fun days then possibly carry on to the sprints, see how it all goes.

Ill be cruising up at around 2-3-4 on satday arvo....will be keeping an eye out for other skyliners!

Thinking about it, i want to try out some slicks so if it is dry i will, but probably wont get up there till 12-1oclock tho.

Hope to see ya there

Have fun though, take lots of photos.

I'll have my camera.

I had a great time today and was surprised that not many of you guys made it.

It was only me, Tom G and R31 Gags plus my mate with his soarer.

I had a great day and was surprised by how well my car went but the tyres sure had a hard time.

So you're all weak considering I had a busted hand and still gave it a go. (The pain dissapeared as I drove)

I have some pics...

I had a ball and want to do heaps more track stuff in the future.

A lot of those "bogan" car were speedway cars, one or two were ex aus-cars.

And I am just glad you didn't post a pic of me now that you what I look like - doh!

I had a great time as well! Best fun ive had in quite a while, and was great to see how my car would hold up to the conditions!

I did see some other lines...not many...i did see the black 32 TVS*** while passing by to get on the track saw the sau stickers. (I was the midnight purple 32 with primer bonnet)

Most people kept their distances as the 'i dont want my car run into' mentally was maintained; well by me anyway...most passing was happening on the straights rather than the bends.

Although there was some people who decided it was Race day instead of fun day....

No mishaps anyway, all was good! :stupid:

Some cool pics there. Sad to see the grass so yellow as I was there for the Dutton in Sept and a couple of times before that and it was much greener.

Looks busy too! I wouldnt mind heading up for one if I thought my tyres would stand up to it.

    • Haha yea it's a bit of a weird setup at the moment, just wanted to make sure I sorted out any headaches before dyno day. At the moment I've changed the exhaust manifold, turbo and downpipe, 460lph fuel pump and rising rate reg as well as the previously mentioned headstuds and gasket. The nistune was already mapped for the car as it was and drove around for a few months no worries. The plan is to run flex fuel hence the big pump, which I've wired direct to the battery through a relay to avoid voltage issues.
    • Um. Was the ECU the same as the one previously there? I know R33's needed R32 GTST ECU's or other tomfoolery to run Nistune. This is such a wild setup. Most people would plumb in the turbo then not drive the car (i.e tow it to a tuner). What's actually changed since it last ran?
    • I'm a bit stuck with this one fellas, I recently decided to undertake a turbo conversion on my GTS-4, ended up pulling the motor to replace all the seals and do an mls head gasket and arp head studs while I was at it. Everything has gone according to plan, no oil or coolant leaks, compression checked out, and decided to give it a test before I book it in for a tune As it stands right now, the turbo only has oil lines plumbed so that I don't put boost into my untuned engine, and I'm using the factory GTS-T crossover pipe with a maf and poddy as a temporary intake. The car starts with relative ease and idles amazingly, however as the title suggests it really doesn't want to rev up, runs very smooth but almost feels choked out and unresponsive to the throttle, almost like it's running lean or something? I've triple checked my vacuum lines and timing with a timing light, injectors haven't been touched as of yet to avoid flooding the engine and worked perfectly beforehand, new plugs and coilpacks, I've even unbolted the cat just to see if it spontaneously collapsed, no dice The car currently has a nistune r32 gtst ecu installed so I have no way to check for fault codes. At this point I'm a bit stumped. Is this normal behaviour for a car with a turbo bolted onto the exhaust going nowhere? I'd imagine the turbo wouldn't cause this much restriction in the exhaust without the boost going through the intake. Any ideas? If necessary I can link a video of how it responds to full throttle while in neutral.
