Time to do the tappets on my car - they are getting a little noisy. It's an L26 with a mild E88 head. Not sure what the clearance should be - as its not the original engine, or if the mods to the engine even affect tappet clearance.

Any clues are appreciated as always.

Not sure if it has what you need but i have the L26 engine manual at home, i'll check and let you know.

cheers

That would be great, nice one. Had a look at the L24 manual for fun, and it recommends:

Cold In 0.008

Cold Ex 0.010

Hot In 0.010

Hot Ex 0.012

accompanied by a small illustration of someone setting the valve clearances using a feeler gauge, a bizarre looking service tool called st10640001 and an another unlabled, ambiguous tool (look mum; three hands!)

Can anyone comfirm that the locknut can be undone with a spanner, the pivot screw adjusted with a screwdriver and the feeling done with a feeler gauge?

I'd like to be properly prepped before I dive in.

Thanks!
