Hi - I have an R34 GTT and yesterday I installed a BOS importing split dump / front pipe and a catco metal high flow cat. Anyway one bolt broke off in the back of the turbo >_< A person who was helping me tried to get it out but couldnt as we didnt have a right angle air drill small enough to get into the space (he started drilling into the actual turbo housing itself :P)

Anyway I said to leave it for now and jammed lots of exhaust cement stuff in there. Didnt really work as it now has a slight leak which was to be expected. Anyway I was just wondering, until I can get this fixed, will the leak impact on performance at all? Also is there any other problems I might face (other than the extra noise which is currently not too bad)?

Thanks! :D

No performance problems.Looks like it will have to come off as there is simply no room to get a drill in there but try a major workshop as they have some specialised tools that could help.

i had an exhaust leak coming from the exhaust manifold to head gasket. was a slight sound of air escaping, and by 1 week later my car was as loud as a tractor. couldnt drive it and yes i did lose performance very noticably. however urs might be tiny and maybe from the turbo/manifold seal

btw cost me $350 to get 5 studs fixed with all new sleeves/inserts and the like by a professional thread repairer. he said it was the 2nd hardest job he has ever done. whoever changed the manifold before completely destroyed all the bolts/threads etc..

The only thing you have to worry about is that an exhaust leak............any exhaust leak is an erosive thing. If you drive it too much and don't get it fixed those hot exhaust gases start cutting a channel in the metal. If let go too long it could need welding up the channel plus resurfacing. The speed that this happens depends on the size of the leak, where the leak is positioned, how hard the motor is used, and the number of kilometres it is used for.

ditto with this guy (cept i had 3 bolts snap which had only been replaced 2 months before), in that it went from quiet to loud and i lost performance a lil, probably because the gasses leaking out the side disrupted airflow or something, but i definitely noticed more pull after having it fixed. The place i took it too kept snapping bits on mine, couple of diamond tipped ones to, ended up having to use some water drilling thingo, go figure
