japanese cars dont have a vin until they are complied in australia. they have a chassis number which is essentially the same thing (it serves the same purpose of vehicle identification) but I dont know of any accesible system here to check the provenance of a vehicle with the japanese chassis no. nissan fast will give you info on the model and spec, but cant tell you who owns it, or money owing, or stolen etc.

Thanks i thought so, ive ran a couple through Nissan Fast, all match up, was just wondering if you could check over in Japan, i think now though that customs are really stringent, anything that looks suspicious is caught and confiscated at the docks.
