Hi everyone,

I've got a brain teaser question here. Not sure if anyone has done this before, but i've got myself a brand new sets of front Ford BF XR6 Brembo calipers. Now this is the hard bit, I'm trying to fit these calipers on my R34 GTT. I have got no rotors yet thus, will have to buy new Brembo Rotors to go with them. As i've got 18" Nismo LM-GT4 rims on, I would like to get a bigger rotor than what the XR6 rotor is. I remember reading about someone commenting about the biggest size rotor that you can fit in a 18" wheels and also commenting that because the nismo LM-GT and/or Rays TE37 has got good brake clearance, supposedly you can fit a little bigger rotor than nomal wheels... i remember the person also commented on the actual figure/dimension. But i can't seem to find the thread on this topic!! I've looked upside down, inside out, offsets, wheels & offsets, brakes etc etc....After searching extensively, i've given up and therefore asking for all of yous to help (if you know the answer).

Question 1: Has anyone fitted an XR6 Brembo setup onto a R34 GTT before? From what i can see, I would need to fabricate some sort of bracket to fit these calipers especially after i increase the rotor diameter. Caliper clearance should be no problem.

Question 2: I'm using a 18" Nismo LM-GT4 rims thus, what is the largest diameter rotor/disc that i can fit in them?

Question 3: I'm based in Melbourne. Do you know of anyone that can do a good job in Melbourne?

Thanks guys. Great Forum!

Cheers, Mike the happy R34 GTT owner. :D

Anyone? Anyone that knows the answer? I was told that the biggest rotors i can put in there with the 18" Nismo LMGTs are 355mm rotors?

Anyone that can help me with the above questions? Promise will post them on the forum once I get them done ;)

I still haven't bought the rotors yet. So, don't have a price as yet.

if u dont mind me asking how much were the rotars?

Try Harrop if you are in Melbourne. Also Racebrakes.

Check the disc offset - I am not 100% sure that the BA matches the Nissans, but I think that it does. If it does you can get a large range of rotors (hatted) made by proper companies like AP Racing, Alcon & Harrop themselves. Oddly Falcons use the same PCD's as Skylines.

Not sure why you would ever want to go larger than 355mm, however.

Thanks bud. I will try those 2 companies as suggested.

Does anyone know if I will haev to fabricate a new hat to fit the rotor or can I just buy brembo rotors with different offsets pre-hatted?

Also, would 355mm definately fit inside my 18" wheels? I remember reading somewhere that GTT comes with 310mm original rotors at the front?

Lastly, I've got a price of $600 for the Brembo rotors from ProTech Automotive in Preston. He couldn't remember the size of the rotor quoted though, so, I'll have to get back to you on this once he confirms it. Reasonably price?? Anyone knows??

Thanks heaps guys!

Check the offset on rotors for the BA's in the DBA catalogue. You can then compare this to the Nissan. If they are the same you will be onto a winner.

Definately? No. Probably? Yes. You have to remember that the width of the caliper is just as important as the rotor diameter. Make youself up a template & check it.

$600 for what? Hatted rotor? Cast rotor? Grooved? 28mm or 32mm wide?

Indeed they do man, 310 x 28 if I remember correctly

Posted this a while back, problem with Falcon discs is hub locating hole and stud size.

GTR height 53.75mm centre 68 pcd 114.3

GTP height 50.5 (355 diam ) centre 71.8 pcd 114.3 larger studs

Chrysler SRT 8 height 53.5 mm (360 diam ) centre 72 (32mm thickness, DBA cattledog min 31.8mm. misprint?) centre 72 pcd 115 mm

Viper SRT 10 height 59.6 (355 diam ) centre 73.6

C6 Corvette height 45.5 (355 diam) centre 70.7

You might be able to get some undrilled DBA5000s and have them drilled to suit. Should work.

    • Can you enlighten me on your best practice regarding these hoses? I don't wanna make the same mistake if you already got a better solution.
    • I have some silicon hoses already, for example engine to watercooler. But yeah, I get the sentiment. The lower intercooler silicon hose is drippy too, despite not being very old. Does anyone except Nismo make these same lines out of rubber? Long term I think they'd be the better replacement, especially since the car won't live as hard a life anymore as in the past nor be driven as often.
    • I know most issues are just age related. But for example the turbo oil drains, there is dash adapters for these and you can just make a braided teflon line for them and (probably) never have them leak again. Also not terribly expensive. Can you even get the factory hardlines from new? Or are they repairable if they break?
    • I know it'd be much much easier with the tool. I hope I can find one that won't take 3 weeks to get to me an isn't a "Asian models kit" that has tons of (to me) useless adapters for a load of cash.   It's a summer project/fun car. I do wanna enjoy it, without endless downtime over and over. So yeah I would even go and buy an engine crane + stand to save myself the trouble of hard to reach or unreachable places going bad later on. Would also be a good opportunity to put on a Fluidamper, renew the mains seals and stuff like that. I have some money on the side that I can use for that, what I wouldn't want to or be able to do is let everything be done by a shop or have my engine completely rebuild right now. I intend to do most of the "doable" jobs myself. Pulling an engine can't be that hard, can it?
    • Evening all. Got this odd issue with my R34 GTT. If I let the car idle for around 15 seconds or more (even when cold) and I jab the throttle a bit, a decently sized plume of blue/grey smoke comes out the exhaust. Doesn't smoke when idling alone, just when giving it some gas after idling. No smoke on cold start or from what I know, normal driving. Not 100% sure about smoke on decel but I don't think there's any. Any pointers on what I should start doing to troubleshoot it? Or if anyone has experienced the same I'd love to get some insight. Cheers.
