Some interesting reding on the ECU poll thread so while there is plenty of info coming out and not wanting to hi jack the other thread i thought id start my own.

I'm currently running a PFC and for my next build was going to a Djetro. But i plan to run nitrous for the drags. Now there are some real nice nitrous controllers getting around these days. you can program what rpm to start injection, what gears to inject and how much to inject which can be progessively increased or decreased as rpm climb / fall. even a burn out mode.

Problem is you buying bascially a complete 2nd ECU just to control nitrous. i realise you dont have to run a nitrous controller but i think it certainly makes sense to, to get the biggest advantages with it and for engine safety.

I've had a look at the Wolf software, there are certainly plenty of options for tuning. Is the Wolff able to control nitrous injection in the same way a nitrous controller can?

The Wolf also is handy in that you can store more than one tune and seems easy enough to switch between them, so ideal for having a street tune and a strip tune stored in its memory.

Any tuners out there with experience tuning nitrous on GTR's? What's your advice on ECU? should i go with the D jetro and nitrous controller or go to a Wolf or Motec to do both?

cheers

It really comes down to how much you want to spend. On the cheap end of things is the PFC D-Jetro with a nitrous controller. Mid range might be Autronic which im pretty sure can handle nitrous and has features like antilag, rot idle etc. Where if you want to step up you grab a motec. What id be looking at is the new HKS F-CON V Pro ecu Xspeed now offer. I had a long chat with ant about this ecu at motorvation and he says its pretty much inline with motec and autronic in regards to tuneability and features, but without the heafty pricetage. It also controls nitrous too. Best thing to do would be to give them a call and work something out with them.

you are seriously limiting your tuner options though if you go with the fcon , because afaik only authorised hks dealers can tune it of which there arent many

any autoronic/wolf/motec level ecu with stack of assignable and configurable outputs would be able to do n2o

but dont under estimate djetro and controller , you still have all the advantages of the power fc . cheap , plug and play (almost for the djetro) stock ide , stock ac , by far the widest support etc etc etc

the F Con Pro does sound appealling but only because most of the rest of the engine will be HKS. But there doesn't seem to be alot of people using it at the moment so no real feed back on how good it is except from the dealler. Maybe i'll leave the ECU choice till one of the last things to get, over the next 12 months there should be more cars out there using the F Con.

The D Jetro is obviously well proven to i'd feel real comfortable using it along with a Nitrous controller. If the F Con plug and play or require a re wire of the loom?

d jetro is good and is suitable to make good power relatively easy, wolf is also good and steve at top racing knows his stuff.

My gtr suitable to make 600rwhp with nos will be using d jetro and I have used wolf in my other turbo applications

I think ant's car from xpseed was running 10's using a wolf

The Wolf V500 can totally control NOS and the other adavantage is it runs a dedicated tune for NOS -Turn on and of at any revs and load(of before rev limiter to stop damage)and different fuel and ign MAP,something NOS must have, and safe guards like low bottle-fuel presssure over ride. The Wolf changes over on the fly with no delay.

Ive been teaching more tuners to use it so there is more options for tuning. www.wolfems.com.au Look at the functions.

thnaks again guys.

i'm hoping to finish my build by the end of the year. and it will be finished with everything i want so i guess once it's tuned right at that time it shouldn't need turning again very often.

I assume there are enough outputs on the wolf to also control water methonol injection as well as nitrous. keen on giving this ago also. planning to run 2 bar of boost but would like to run water injection to gain some extra timing on for example anything over 1.5 bar.

Public Enemy, Do some better research before commiting to an ecu.

I have found With wolfs you can only go to one shop to get them tuned. no one else in wa wants to tune them, (nib maybe teach people about them but do you want someone learning on your car.)

From what i have seen wolfs have starting problems, and seen at motorvation with the white r31, also the tunes some of the tunes i have seen are questionable, 13.5 afr hmmm, either that or the wolf changes its tune all by itself.

if i was to do it i would go a power fc d-jetro, easy to get tuned, everyone knows them. no starting issues, the dont change there tunes and they seem to be the going ecu for quick cars in wa, aust and the japan.

or the F Con Vpro seems good, most crazy jap gtr's run this setup.

You just contradicted yourself, there is only one place that tunes F Con, so whats the difference?

And are you knocking the ECU or some of the ppl that tune them?

if it was a Power FC the tune would be good, is that what your saying? thats how your coming across.

Find the ecu that suits your needs and does what you need, and find a good tuner that supports it (and Wolf is supported, a good tuner can tune any ecu. )
