That is like saying Mt Everest is big.

Its only a days climb!

Great to see the R32 of Giant and also Bright do well.

Any pics around?

I still cant believe Jamezilla came 4th in handicapped and won his class. Mind you you would be pissed off if a Monaro and utes etc beat you :bunny:

nice work lads

some tops times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea baby!

and luff is a fag

Awesome result guys 1st and third. I was out at E Creek on Sunday in perfect conditions watching this array of top class cars competing in all the vents. Warren Luff race driver in 700hp twin turbo GT2 did a 1 min 39 something and Russ in R32 GTR did a 1 min 40.67. The Giant boys were hitting rev cut at the start finish line which is well form the end of the straight which is amazing. Lots of EVO's busted gear boxes or transfer cases and one busted egnine>?

hey guys ! thanks for the nice comments and support

the car was going beautifully, nearly all weekend

Mark's driving was unbeliveable!! he really has a handle on how to get the most out of it. me on the other hand had a pretty ordinary weekend but it was enough to get the job done.

yeah we were on the rev limit in 5th before the end of the airport 800mtr sprint about 275km/h :P same with eastern creek main straight, backing off at the start finish line to stay off the limiter.

The GTR was well represented on the weekend with John & Craig in the other r32 as well, the speeds and times were up also it was a very competitive weeekend. lots of smashed gearboxes (14 i think) and a few accidents.

I believe a lot of the gearboxes were EVO's - but a lot of them were on the faster stuff rather than cones.

From what I've heard a lot of them that broke were running solid centred twin clutches and really the EVO gearboxes need a sprung centre.

Well Done Mark and Russ.

As for Evo's breaking boxes, well there was a few, one Evo 9 cracked a rear diff to have it replaced only to have a recently rebuilt box crap 4th gear going opver the ripples at EC. Also another Evo 6 destroyed a box on launch at WSID.

We on the other hand had bad luck also, our box has been a bti dodgy since QLD and since the rollover we only had time to get the car together for NSW, which by itself is a testiment to all involved. We lost 4th gear at Wakefield, but when the car has been on a light tune of 283awkw and a dyno proven 300awkw on a standard box it was only a matter of time, plus we are running a twin plate...SPRUNG CENTRE (had to put that in...). The disappointing thing was after a crap first day we were on the comeback path with the Evo and the Sti and by all accounts should have been top ten, combined with the fact we were granny shifty all weekend to save the box we would have definitely been up there. Still a 107 around wakefield with a farked box is still moving. The Sti suffered from a collapsed front bearing and we could not source parts or a press, despite this the bouys still managed 3rd for the rookies and did not compete for a whole day... (I am sure that loud BOV was missed...). So we packed up early and hit the road back to Brisbane.

Great to catch up as usual with Mark and Russ, sorry that Al keeps touching Marks arse...he really has some problems!!

I know you guys won't be at Vic, but at this stage we may only enter 1 car...which one unsure, but next time we will take Cam's R34 GTR so that if anything breaks we can still have fun!!!

Cheers

Neill

GO THE R34!!!! HEHE

Yeah top job to get the Evo there at all, and bloody hell it was a fast weekend!!

cheers russ

As Angry has said, congrats to you & Mark, Russ, very well done indeed :D

It was a real shame we missed out on EC, I was so looking forward to that, anyways there is always next year! & to think if we didn't take Stephen's car down on the transporter, I seriously would have taken the GTR down!

Hopefully we'll see you guys in Vic!

Cheers Cam

If you can get down the week before we'll be running a day at DECA which you'll be at for 2 of the 3 days. Will also give you some good cone practise if you haven't had much before and a few of us can show you some tips.

When you say week before, it that the working week prior to the event of the weekend before?

Sorry - it is the Saturday before (August 25th).

And remember also Winton is open every Friday (well most Fridays) so if you came for the weekend before for the 2 days you'd cover about half of what you'd need to know (total time spent at DECA + Winton = 1.5 of the 3 days)

    • No worries, everything worked out in the end. I just wanted to make the point that it doesn't matter where it comes from (I.E Australia), it can be broken or improperly built. I would still purchase from these companies in the future. B2R - Not certain how that finished, this was on a car I wired a few things and street tuned. I know the owner ended up shipping the motor back to Australia for investigation. Hopefully some of it is covered under warranty.  Turbosmart - I always pressure test everything that goes on my car. It's a habit from my career in oil and gas. I run two 40mm's and both had major leaks from the actuator to exhaust portion through the shaft. I returned both, they shipped me back two and one was leaking and the other had a 38mm top (40mm gate with 38mm actuator cap, no idea how that happens). Eventually after a lot of back and forth I found myself with two non-leaking gates. I believe this happens a lot more then people would like to believe but you would never know if you don't pressure test them prior to installation. Crank Motorsport - Issued a full refund and let me keep the seat rails. I turned them into scrap metal for other projects. GKTech - Shipped me out a replacement and asked that I modify it as per my idea and that they would do the same for a future revision. ATP - Can just needed a large shim to bolt up properly.  Haltech - They started an actual proper Beta channel for firmware's a few months back and stopped using the general public for testing. I'm now much happier.  Speedtek - f**k Speedtek. I would love to watch them burn.
    • I've got a Turbosmart wastegate, ATP catch can, many GK Tech parts and Haltech everything. Everything's been perfect, sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same
    • The only high-power RB I've personally seen go pop after running for all of an hour on a dyno was built by B2R, while being remotely tuned by B2R. The only wastegates I've ever had leak like a sieve, return, still leak, return and get shipped back the wrong ones were from Turbosmart. The only final drive that I've ever purchased that were unusable, twice... were from Speedtek. The only seat mounts that I've ever purchased that placed the seats in the door frame were from Crank Motorsport. The only poorly designed parts that I had the manufacturer confirm should have been designed as per what I mentioned were from GKTech. The only ECU I've had firmware updates consistently break things are Haltech. The only catch can I've purchased that didn't fit in its advertised spot was from ATP. So forth and so on... Moral of the story, doesn't matter where it's from. Do your research beforehand and stick with products and companies you've trusted in the past.    @joshuaho96 If you want it done right, do it yourself.
    • Something coarse-ish. 180 is good.
    • I was surprised to see all the quick Jack models at the same prices on there. But yeah, grabbing one at 20% off would be great.
